France definitely does it different, but that’s not a negative towards them. I love all things Olympics. Life goes on hold for a bit for me. I can watch any sport at anytime and be happy. The true meaning of competition and an absolute honor to participate in.

We beat China by one gold medal last time. I think it will be a wider margin this time. Either way, watching these athletes at the absolute top of their game never gets old. They compete for the love of it.

I love the Olympics and tried to watch the opening ceremony, but it was really hard to follow and very....different
Definitely non traditional. The opening ceremony for the Chinese games was my favorite all time. France is showcasing the city at a much higher level and their diversity. Not a great flow, but they get to do it how they want to.

My wife forced me to watch most of it and I thought it was garbage for the most part. Took forever to get the torch lit and I still cannot figure out WTF they lit and where it is located plus having drag queens and the nonsense they were doing. By far the best moment was Celine Dion singing.

They may compete for the love of it, but look at the net worth of some of them.

The love the athletes have for this is unmatched. They are riding down a river on boats in the rain while being sprayed with e-coli water and not a single person has a frown on their face.

I freaking love it. Such a great change of pace to what we are dealing with here.

Celine was definitely the highlight. Handing the torch to non French athletes, like Serena Williams, Raphael Nadal, Carl Lewis and others shows the respect for former top competitors. Class act on every level.

Olympic governing body and anti doping agency continue to let countries cheat. East Germany has proved out. China will prove out. Their answer to China cheating is we will take away Winter Olympics from US. Only country who does not losing their ass hosting is US. But for NBC money (US money) Olympics would go away. France put on a big show tonight. Expect a shit show going forward.

The NCAA is fair and efficient when compared to the IOC. It's littered with old, rich, half wits and communists.

I see people truly can't go one day without pretending to be upset or offended by something.

Good, productive thread though. Learned a lot about Ancient Greece, rednecks, France, and gays.
What does ancient Greece have to do with France? Do they share culture or lineage? You could have read up on the several attacks on trains, cars and the electric grid. You kind of want to know about that stuff since we are probably going to have the same happen here.

It wasn’t the last supper DS. If you are going to start an argument, start with the correct info.
"It wouldn't be fun if there were no controversy. Wouldn't it be boring if everyone agreed on this planet?" Philippe Katerine, the blue naked man in the scene, told BFM TV a day after the show.“

It may have had ancillary elements, but it was arranged to mock the DiVinci painting.

You probably think world leaders and clerics are clueless on this. It was meant to be derisive.

So you think Christians shouldn't be offended? I know one thing, let one of these type situations come up and you'll be on here acting like a sanctimonious ass as usual.

At least you're consistent.

Luckily homophobic rednecks are only a tiny portion of the overall world population.

USA Men’s 4x400 relay team won the first gold for us. Shai, Murray and Lyles are playing against Greece currently. Good game.
These aren’t your daddy’s gay people. Nobody cares if a person is gay. These are perverted atheist pedophiles. Atheists have always jumped up and down and yelled “hey, did you know I was an atheist!?”, but now with DEI it’s on steroids as they know they can get away with just about anything. Absolutely ruined the Olympics from the get go.

According to ESPN and Olympic sites, USA Men's 4x100 relay team won first gold for Team USA.

So Kegstand mentioned something about homophobic rednecks. I don't like that as it was going to somewhat derail the thread. What happened after that post though? BearBryantsWatch posted that no one is scared of Fa99ots. Cold Stout Beer went on a conniption fit about atheists and called strangers he saw on tv pedophiles. I assume because he thinks they're gay. So while I hate the lame mud slinging back and forth, is Kegstand's post incorrect when someone responds with "Fa99ot" and then something akin to "I think what I just saw was super gay and that means they're pedophiles." When someone throws out an insult, try not to actually prove he's correct afterward lol.

Never change making asses out of yourselves on a public board that anyone, including fans of other teams, enjoy reading.

Oh, and Gojira's performance, which I feel was the most important thing the world watched, was the high point for metal in 2024. Thought their last album was pretty damn good too.

Celine was the high point of the ceremony. My wife told me this morning she was paid $2M for her efforts (?!?!?). I’m sure she put a lot of practice and preparation into it but that’s a nice chunk of change.
