OU would have to gut the entire Ath dept and get him back. With OU coming to the SEC, it’d be a downgrade. Smaller stadium. Lesser facilities. Probably less recruiting and coaching budgets. OU has solid boosters. So does UT.

The DC at UCF was forced on him by the boosters. The offense wasn’t why they were losing games. Randy Shannon was.

If you think for one minute that OU won't do the same thing to stop the losing, you just don't know anything about Oklahoma and their love of OU football.
The powers that be will not stand idle and watch Venables burn that program to the ground. They will not wait around to see if he can turn it around.
They will bring in the coach they think can win and win now. And JH is probably at the top of their list.
Kiffin openly tried to turn the UT culture into USC culture. He was obsessed with USC. He supposed redecorated his office at UT with USC stuff. Heupel, none of that. He has been blown away with the culture in Knoxville. And he may or may not have a longing for his alma mater, I don't know. But from everything I've seen said from people around the OU program, he wouldn't be offered, nor would he accept an offer. It was apparently a bad breakup. Baving said that, anything is possible in college football. But I still think it not likely. I personally think he can't wait for OU to start an SEC schedule so he can get a shot at the Sooners. Like it or not, I imagine the SEC is stuck with Heupel for awhile.
Well, that will be true whether he stays at UT or goes to OK.
I am personally glad he is coaching in the SEC.
His offense will force these Defense only coaches to improve their offense or get left out.
But, on the flip side of that, JH will have to improve his defense and can't be offense only and expect to beat Georgia and Bama.
Until that happens, beating Florida and UK just means you are second best in the East.

I can't argue with that. But I do think the defense is improving. But when you have 30 players transfer out after Pruitt was fired, most of whom were on the D side of the LOS, including some of your best payers, it is not an immediate fix, but JH and staff I think are doing a good job of repairing the damage.

Hard to beat UT allowing them to be the aggressor. Almost have to get the QB out and our sitting back waiting for a mistake is not going to happen a lot against them. Doing it that way, have to hope you can out score them. And MS hates that type of game even though we have the QB and WR's to open up big time if we want.

It is hard to dispute that since Tennessee beat some of our best teams with some of their worst.
I'll say one thing, that Tennessee offense is fun to watch. If they have the ball you can't get up and go to the frig for a beer because chances are they will score while you are gone. I hate to type this.

I actually never blamed Kiffin for leaving for his dream job. I would as well. I was angry at him and the Ogre for calling UT recruits before they had left and recruited them to UT, but after time had passed I got over that. I actually like the guy and like him being in the SEC.

Not so fast, how Hooker does in the NFL and the next QB's success will determine how attractive UT and Chumlee's offense is to kids. It is a very simple offense, just runs at breakneck speed and very wide gaps. It doesn't teach QBs to run their progressions or a NFL route tree. But to line up fast and hope to catch the defense out of position. Scout teams can simulate and why UT gets off to fast starts. Vols want teams punished for faking cramps, just have ref stand over ball until both sides are ready, that will reduce fake injuries to zero?

If the offense doesn’t substitute, why should they have to wait on the defense to? If you wanna change rules, make UGAs little DL jump that they do to draw false starts illegal too. But Hooker isn’t the only QB Heupels ever coached and had great success. If pro success is the metric, every QB at UGA under Kirby needs to transfer and good QBs shouldn’t look your way either.
