Jalen Williams is a straight BALLER put some respect on his name. How do we (UK) find diamonds in the ruff like that. Dude played at Santa Clara lol. Everybody must have missed on him coming out of high school. Jalen and Shai was just lethal in the champiomship game.

He grew a couple inches after being recruited as a 6'3" PG and then just took off from there. 247 had him as the #230 overall player in 2019.

Steve Nash also played at Santa Clara.

Isn't that weird because he was still a 5-star recruit? I remember we really wanted Trae Young out of that class.

I'm so happy for Shai though. I have really enjoyed being able to witness his development.

I think SGA was a 4* in most rankings. (I may be wrong.) SGA and Williams are both examples of some later development and not having phenomenal (out of this world) physical skills.

SGA never blew people away with his speed (which tends to get players better hs ratings.) He was just a savvy player that continued to work on his game and get better each year.

That's the problem with too many recruiting services. 247 had him as the #20 overall player (5-star). Others had him as a very high 4-star, so he was right on the edge and not entirely under the radar.

De-committed from Florida. We got lucky. Only became a starter once Quade went down. I was at the Louisville breakout game.

Great pick by OKC in the draft- they said he had to go to the combine to try and prove to NBA teams he was worthy of a 1st round pick

I guess it all depends on what you classify as a "reach?" A guy outside of the RSCI top 50? A guy outside of the top 100?

Thiero, Epps, Padgett, Evans, and Mohammed are a few that come to mind. I remember some people questioning why Pitino took the Manhattan transfer Heshimu Evans. Worked out nicely for us though, with a natty in '98 and an Elite Eight in '99.

Everyone missed on Steve Nash also.Santa Clara has had some very good talent over the years some just develop later.
