Ok. Kelsey officially killing it at UL-McKneely commits

I've seen Mckneely play quite a bit this past season. Good player no doubt but IMO there are much better options.
Pope will come through. I'm betting he will get a much higher caliber than this kid.

The holding period comment reeks of Mitch being overly conservative and wanting to make sure we abide by whatever the future rules are instead of playing by the current rules
This is sure what it feels like!!

Another way that Mitch is holding us back. Hope this isn’t the case, but something is definitely up and this is the most likely reason.

Especially when someone reported just this earlier this week. If Coach Pope and our NIL people are being restrained until April 7 by Mitch, he needs to RESIGN!!! After what all of these other schools have gotten by with lately, WHY would Mitch be SO ANAL over FREAKIN NCAA rules????!!!!

Man, they are going to have a great three point shooting team. Not sure about their inside players, but will certainly be able to spread the floor and shoot.

Anyone not concerned has their head in the sand. Barnhart needs to go.
I'm not concerned. I sense no sand in my general area. Here's why I'm not concerned:

1. Last year Pope pulled together a full team (in two weeks). Missed on a couple, got virtually everyone else he wanted. He didn't get his first commit until April 28. (Today is April 3)
2. He didn't mysteriously lose his ability to close. That does not mean he will get every player he wants.
3. This year, he has the luxuries of more time and more NIL.
4. Last year, he only had time for one criterion: who fits my offense? This year, he has the benefit of knowing what it takes to compete in the SEC. So the puzzle is more complicated.
5. He only needs 5 players, give or take, not a full team like before.
6. He also knows there are good players yet to enter the portal. In short, he's being choosy/strategic.
7. UofL lost I think 12 players. Kelsey has reportedly $8-10 million to spend, and he doesn't have to worry about paying any returning guys. He's like a kid in a candy store right now.
8. Portal season is good for one thing: revealing folks who are given to impatience and emotional outbursts.

I wonder though why Pope didn't offer McKneely? The dude is considered by many the best shooter in the portal and he's from the Huntington, WV area which is not far from Lexington. He obviously wanted to stay as close to home as possible. Just seemed he checked all the boxes for Pope's system. I'm a bit perplexed.

Depends on how he fits within the system, how does he work with other parts or players. A lot of things attribute to the players they are trying to get. We aren't starting brand new like we did last year.

Not to be rude but thats why your not the coach. Popes team equals Pope recruits. Complain when we have players, not now.

This is the first guy they’ve gotten this year that hasn’t given me portal envy. Looks like a quite good, not great, sniper and bangup FT shooter but very ho-hum at everything else, at best. Of course I’m only going by stats per 40 but I feel like all the expectations I had about our inbound players last season based on that turned out to be true. (Apart from Butler, anyway.)

Canebreak is the biggest overreactor, i expect the chick up there to overreact. If the offseason comes and goes and we sign no one else, then you can say whatever you want.To jump to the most illogical comments I mean the only thing right now scaring off potential recruits are fake fans who overreact to anyone picking anyone else.

Well. Let’s hope you’re correct. You’ve definitely informed us that you’re the adult. I don’t really care about any theories like outlined above. I’m a show me the money guy. Get good players and win. The theory discussions are fun when you win and small consolation when your not. Recruiting is part of winning. I’m not trying to be harsh. It’s just what I think. Love Pope but it is what it is.

Louisville didn’t lose 12 players we lost 7 scholarship players unless other jump in the portal.

Do you think we have 10-12 million to spend in the portal? You act like it, NO you goober, of that money we are paying Oweh, Chandler, Garrison to return , then Lewis, Johnson, and Moreno , and now Kam Williams. Whats left over is what we have to play with for the portal and I'm sure Johnson, Moreno and Oweh are getting a pretty good chunk not to mention we might have offered 4 million to Yaxel if the Michigan insiders are to be believed.
