Yeah yeah and Aaron Rodgers was about to return from his Achilles injury. Believe that if you want, I'll stick with the facts. People aren't coming back full contact sports at this level in 5-6 months from an ACL.

Great example of a guy that "could" but didn't. Yet there are countless examples in every other sport where it takes at least 8-9 months.

i can see it for defensive purposes and a very specific reward to risk assessment.
i think the upside potential means we do it if we have roster space. There are 15 spots. Fill them up, I say. Every single one. With the way injuries have been for us, we cant have too many bodies.

Season mostly goes from Oct-March. Most of the significant games are Dec - march. There would be a decent chance he’d be available over that period.
My issue is I do not want him here "healing" in preparation for moving on. I really don't think Pope will ever allow a Sharpe fiasco.
JQ at least at least should be ready for qualified non-con games (against IU/Zaga/Lou) in December and SEC plays
I believe you, but I've also seen enough of players holding out. The kid chose to go elsewhere last season and comes crawling back because he thinks he can hide out for a season but "loves what he's hearing from Pope".
JQ and Mo D might be the best defensive front court in the country next year.
I don’t either, right price and medical assurances add him. I doubt Pope would let anyone do a Sharpe.
On the bright side, maybe JQ has always had the desire to stay in Kentucky, but last year he wasn’t sure if Pope was the right person, so he decided to wait and see for a year. (Of course, this could just be wishful thinking.)
I’ve not felt confident about us signing any of the names we’ve been attached to and missed thus far. I also don’t know shit, but I feel really good about JQ signing with us at this point, and that excites me.

Was exactly what happened.. JQs dad requested that Mitch call him and had questions of what type of coach he was going for/system,, see where JQ would fit in.. Then Mitch ghosted them on the phone call..
Especially taking a risk when said player prior to the ACL injury had a lot of buzz around him after the early reclass that made him ineligible for the NBA Draft for 2 yrs that he'd play one and sit next.
UK needs to have players who will be on the court in a definitive manner next year. I'm a huge fan of Quaintance's game/skill set but if you bring him in, he doesn't play/sits and then leaves--this would be worse than Shaeden Sharpe's situation because you knew the kid was injured and what was known prior and had numerous other players you could've brought in who were completely healthy and able to help you on the court.
JW--also I didn't forget about the Arenas stuff. After looking at everything regarding his school selection, I was incorrect in Gilbert commenting on him choosing a College Program to get up numbers and not win--he said he didn't want him at a HS program where he had to be on a loaded team and not learn how to be the focal point of an opponent's game plan, etc...so he felt it would be a better preparation for Alijah to play at a Normal HS and learn to be #1 on a scout rather than blend in and just play in games that he has it easy and doesn't have to work due to overwhelming opponents with just talent collectively.

You take JQ in a hot second. His knee will likely be fine. Any player on the court could go down at any second. Would we throw Oweh out of town if he tore his knee up this season? No we would want him back next season and hope he is as good or better. Sounds like he really wants to be at Kentucky and that means alot. Not to mention he's likely a lottery pick if he does come back healthy. Kid is a monster and takes us to another level. In the event he isn't able to play we'll have Mo D and at least 1-2 more players that can play the 4-5.

I kind of don’t mind though. I mean this will be our 11th? Player that we have signed and I felt good about the roster before him. The upside seems higher than the downside.
I disagree. So does the coaching staff.
Maybe we should aim for lesser players and then you can complain when we can’t make it past the sweet 16?
