Officiating

I haven’t watched the game. I’m just about to, but I was following it and almost every foul that was on a Kentucky player was called a shooting foul and you can’t play tight defense. If you think you’re gonna get called for a foul every time the team shooting the only reason uk was failed half the time they were was at the end of the game on before it was falling on every possession, but the cat stepped up and hit the free throws. Just look at the amount of free-throws taken versus the amount of fouls Kentucky made
I think it was 20 fouls on us, with 35 foul shots for Florida! Lmfao WOW!

I was going to post that. The fouls were even.

There were bad calls both ways just like every SEC forever. Worst officials in basketball.

We fouled them more on shots. They took 11 more foul shots than we did.

They outscored us by 4 at the line.

There’s only one negative from this game for UK.

Defensive rebounding.

We took care of the ball. Only 6 turnovers. We shot 58% from the field. 48% from 3. 75% free throws.

We passed like wizards with 25 assists.

If we had just cut their offensive rebounds in half we win by 15-20.
We were fouled on several shots and no whistle. On the other end, however, UF got several shooting fouls that weren’t even fouls. We were fouled on shots 3 possessions in a row that should’ve been and 1s and no call. Carr was absolutely clobbered on one of those. I lost count of how many late whistle calls went against UK in this game. We couldn’t get a damn stop because we “fouled” almost every trip down. 🙄

Worst Officials Ever ???? One-Sided ????

20 Fouls - Gators
20 Fouls - Kentucky
I didn't have a problem with them really, other than they anticipated fouls under the goal (Garrisons 5th was a joke) and the phantom foul on the 3 called on butler.

But there's no rule that says fouls should be even..if one team is more physical it stands to reason they should be called for more fouls..Florida was more physical

Lmao I didn’t even see the foul on the 3 against Butler. Probably a good thing. Just awful officiating at Rupp today. Totally abysmal.

Something absolutely has to give or people will stop watching. The quality of refs, the fairness of refs, is absolutely in the trash. It has reached the point, even as a die hard Kentucky fan, even when we win, that watching is frustrating. Soon I will just stop watching. Time to fix it or just abandon playing, because if it’s fixed (as the quality would suggest) I no longer have interest.

In 99% of games fouls shouldn’t be even. Odds are, if both teams were called for exactly the same number of fouls, it’s absolutely proof the game was poorly officiated, or worse, was fixed.

Man, today was off the charts terrible! I was livid and cussing the entire second half! Every time we were about to blow the game open, here came the phantom whistles! It was absolutely maddening! Those refs had to be on the take. I’ll die on that hill!

Yes, correct. This is where referees put their foot in their mouth. If one team plays on the perimeter more or presses, etc the fouls will be different. You're putting a team at a disadvantage.l if they're the same

This is why the rooferee totally rigged the unc game. I heard him in an interview where he claimed the game was fine bc the fouls were even thinking ppl were idiots...then the very next year he reffed a KU/WVU game where the free throw disparity was 38-2. So i guess he's admitting he threw that game then. He can't have it both ways.

Luckily he retired, likely to avoid a federal investigation. Unluckily, dozens of others took his place.

I stopped watching college ball many years ago. Hate the way the ncaa changed the rules. The refs have been awful for years and that is why I have stopped watching. It’s a bad combo, with bad refs and ridiculous rules. They have changed the whole premise and purity of the game.

Some of you arguing "fouls were even" are full of sh!t. They shot 11 more free throws and that's with them having to foul us in the last minute to stay in the game. Refs were bent. What's more, they were inconsistent. Almost every time a Florida player went to the rim, they blew a foul. We did the same thing on three straight possessions in the second half, were mauled each time, and they swallowed their whistles. Absolute garbage officiating.

If I didn’t consider Kentucky basketball such a large part of my personal identity I’m sure I would have done the same. When I was younger I watched any game I could. Now I only watch Kentucky. Next up is I don’t watch at all. If that’s the goal of the NCAA they are on their way to making no money for their executives. That would be typical. Shortsighted selfishness over longevity might as well be in the constitution at this point.

Has there ever been a game where this board didn't think the officiating was horrible? It seems like 75% of the posts in each game thread are complaining about the refs.

Many. The majority of games. Stop being intentionally obtuse. You aren’t smart enough to pull it off.

Am I being intentionally obtuse or am I pointing out if everyone thinks the majority of our games are officiated in the favor of our opponent, then maybe that isn't actually true? Every fanbase thinks every game is reffed against them, just like every fanbase thinks the announcers are biased against them.

And yet, there aren’t posts today complaining about the announcers — right? Feel free to go find them, but I certainly haven’t seen them. So, you argument already seems without merit. Straw men are fun.

Its getting hard for me to watch too. And it's not just our games. These phantom foul calls are happening in every game more and more. Today's game was one of the worst I've seen though, and it wasn't balanced towards both teams.

I agree. Worse still, even when one game (not ours) is called fairly, it won’t be called the same way the next game. That’s not enjoyable. I want a foul to be a foul. I don’t think that is too much to ask. I recognize no game will be called perfectly — there will always be missed calls — but is shouldn’t shift from 40 calls to 10 from one game to the next, not when the same team is involved playing the same way. It’s absurd.

There were some in the game thread. It's pathetic. We should be better than that.

Unfortunately, bad basketball officiating is like bad customer service, being nice gets you nowhere. The bigger the AH you are, the more they'll do to avoid you.
I don't agree at all, Cal is the biggest AH to officials there is, how many calls did he get?

Not many, but to be honest there aren’t many games where there are less than 8-10 pretty awful calls during a game. The NCAA doesn’t have control of refs so they can’t impact consistency like the NBA can. It’s always been a flawed system but it’s definitely gotten worse with a ton of new officials the last 5-6 years.

Alabama sure ain’t having trouble getting calls at home
Even took away a bucket that was a questionable goal tend for Oklahoma at half
Looked good to me
Might’ve been 1/8” of ball within the cylinder with ball exiting

Does any other blue blood have to deal with 11 FT disparities on their home court? And that's AFTER they went foul crazy in the last minute of the game. They had double our free throws attempted most of the game.

This doesn't ever seem to be a problem for Kansas, Duke, or North Carolina.
