I’m starting to wonder if this is a systemic flaw in the Stoops/White defensive philosophy. Playing a bunch of soft zone, keeping plays in front, and waiting for the offense to make a mistake is a viable strategy against low-mid level teams and gives us good overall numbers, but we hardly ever look competitive against truly elite level teams who can execute and take the 7-8 yards per play we’re practically daring them to. Might be time to make some tweaks to our gameplan.
