***** Official Kentucky - Alabama Game Thread *****

Do you guys honestly not know the hand is part of the ball on a dunk attempt like that? I'm not being sarcastic.

From the NCAA rulebook:

It shall be legal for a defender to accidentally hit the hand of a ball handler when reaching to block or slap the ball when there is player control with that player’s hand in contact with the ball and when that player is:

a. A dribbler;
b. Attempting a try for field goal; or
c. Holding the ball.

Williams had control of the ball and was attempting a field goal.

The hard truth is that Perry isn't now and unlikely to ever be ready to play at this level. He isn't even capable of doing the one thing that he is supposed to be very good at which is shooting.
He has 10 points 3 rebounds and an assist in the first half of an SEC tournament game against a top 8 team in the country. Give the kid some time.

funny. they took 2 points away from bama. Maybe they felt uncomfortable with us being 9 down. I said earlier they'd slightly adjust the score at halftime on a review.

check

just like they took Amari's foul off against OU last night

slight little adjustments here and there.

I got faith in Shows and crew, they're gonna make sure we get this W ! 😉

HIT the hand. Which means an incidental touch. Not grab it hard enough to remove the players hand from the ball.

Dykes is right. Wikipedia isn't the official rule book. When the hand is in contact with the ball on a dunk attempt like that, it's considered part of the ball. That was a clean block.
On any play. The hand is part of the ball.

It’s not normally called that way. But the rule is the hand is part of the ball when the hand is in contact with the ball.

What about the mouth against an elbow? What does the book say there?

How long does the biggest fan base in the sport take this open disrespect and obvious bias? It is really taking the joy out of watching games. Dykes defending that obvious foul that their female counterpart even said was missed. Makes me feel like I am going insane. You can almost hear the joy in his voice when anyone else does anything against us.

This has been my favorite team in a loooong time. I firmly believe Pope will put us back on top and keep us there for a while. I cannot wait to see a Pope team that has had time to learn before the season. I really just want to hear all these snake talking heads be forced to respect us again. Hate us all you want but stop acting like this isn't the biggest program in the sport. No coincidence Nashville is blue.

No it doesn't. It literally says the defender is allowed to hit the hand when going for a block, if the offensive player has possession and is attempting a field goal.

This isn't some niche rule. This has been a thing literally forever.

Define accidentally and define hand. He hit his entire lower wrist and hand.

You keep making excuses as the guards keep driving to the basket for layups. We are talking about layups. Bama is up 7 at the half while only making three 3-pointers.

I saw a foul on the wrist as well as the hand. You know UK gets called for a foul on that every time.

Accidentally would be going for a block on the ball and accidentally hitting the hand. This isn't some niche rule that never gets called. It's incredibly common.

The rule is exactly the same in the NBA and happens all the time.

What that kid did is called a foul 99 percent of
the time.

I dont know what to tell you guys if you think it was a foul. This is a pretty basic basketball rule. There have been some awful calls in this game, but that wasn't one of them.
