********OFFICIAL GAME THREAD*********

Why have a guard that plays to get fouled but can't hit free throws . I don't get it.

Briscoe is a 5 star player because he faced a lot of defenses that allowed him to score a lot of layups. Cal needs to really reconsider signing a bunch of guys that can't shoot.

Briscoe kills this team on offense. Timid Alex is back tonight. Mulder should have been playing more all year.

If we are behind we can not play Briscoe. He can't shoot and hecisca driver. When he gets fouled he throws up bricks.

Willis and Mulder should get major minutes in the second half. We have got to score. And Cal has no clue what offense to run. Them two need to just spot up and let Ulis find them.

For all the crap that Skal gets, I don't understand why Briscoe doesn't get the same heat. I don't know what in the world is wrong with his shot but it needs fixed ASAP.

I'm as frustrated as anyone - and kinda sick about the first half
However, a good half of the posters on this thread said they thought we'd lose this game; many had this circled as a loss early on.
Not sure what's going on - I agree that it's mental; if we had been giving half the effort we did against Ole Miss 1st half then we'd be up, or at the very least tied.
And no, it's not the officiating (couple of blown calls, but nothing that really explains what's going on)
Oh well, another half to play - gotta watch it and hope we see last week's team come in and play.

UK has never won a game under Cal when trailing by at least 10 at the half (0-11) per @bigbluehistory on Twitter.

Good observation and one that I agree with totally.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it just feels that way.

Skal's struggles? Mental weakness.
Inconsistencies of Poythress? Mental weakness.
Briscoe's FT% dropping nearly 35% since he was in high school (last year)? Mental weakness.
Ulis' struggles from the 3PT line? Mental weakness (which is bizarre, because mentally, he's one tough little SOB).
Jamal Murray's terrible turnovers and inconsistencies from the floor? Mental weakness.

I don't think it's mental

either 1) These kids just need more time. Like normal freshman. or 2) They just aren't as good as their HS rankings suggested.

I would like to think we will play a helluva lot better the 2nd half. We have the players to make this happen. Play hard with energy and make a few shots!

In all fairness it doesn't happen that often. Only time we are down that much is either on the road or when we are playing one of the worst games ever. Unfortunately both are happening tonight.

Alex should be ashamed of himself after that half. A senior playing scared like that when he's needed so much?

Reading so many negative posts. Here is some advise, don't like what you see, then turn the channel and watch something else.

Ulis came out and missed some shots that he normally makes which kind of set the tone he is leader if he makes those shots it changes the flow. I was not expecting a win here so not to upset, dread the Kansas game.

Just now caught up on DVR. This game the basically the opposite of the Kansas-Oklahoma game last night. Doo doo butter basketball.

Haven't even got to watch Ben Simmons beat us so far.

Anyway, second half had to be better ... let's go.

Why does Briscoe insist on taking jump shots?
AP, Humphries also. These are not jump shooters but need to attack the paint.

Bad turnovers, bad passing, bad shooting, bad rebounding and only down 10??? LSU isn't playing much better.

We don't have one front court player who can create - not one. Lee looks stupid trying to make moves. We need to penetrate and get our bigs slashing.
