I’m heading to west Ky today to close out one of the least productive duck seasons in memory, our yearly take has been down 75%, but still had some fun. I hope other hunters will chime in, even my deer source in west Tn hasn’t been able to bag me the doe he normally gets me (quit hunting deer back in 2000, became too tiring for me to both work daily and hunt deer out of state).
December was so dry we had very little water to attract early ducks, rains improved that look by early January, but other than one cold week before Christmas, not enough cold weather seemingly to our north ever drove the ducks to west Ky.
My first project will be cooking a squirrel burgoo for my brother and me, the others in our group want no part of it, we learned as kids to cook and eat it bones in (takes care, but have never swallowed or choked on a bone) same as the whole chicken along with beef stew meat, crushed tomatoes and many vegetables.
