Exhale: neither a “pro” or “anti” Pope post.
It seems that almost all the guys Pope has gotten from the portal the last two years have been secured quickly, at least from when we as fans hear about the interest. I can’t recall hearing about someone and it dragging on too long. That’s why I am skeptical about Alvaro. I don’t think Pope wastes much time. He likes a guy, he locks him down, or fails to and moves on.
I also wonder how serious Pope is about all these guys we’re linked to. This may really befuddle our “insiders” like Travis. Take a guy like Quaintance. Pope may feign interest to drive the price up. It would be smart strategy to an extent. Only risk is lowering brand reputation, but $ is probably what matters. So, take it from competitors pool. Puts the insiders in a tough spot to report accurate info.
