Transfer portal numbers...WOW

It makes continuity even more valuable, way less time reinventing the wheel on system and expectations with a few translator/coaches on the team.

This. And not to hijack the thread, but I’m interested in seeing how quickly sports books will adjust for this. If you like to gamble on college basketball, I think this is a very lucrative time as oddsmakers are still figuring out this new landscape, and lines are not as sharp currently as they once were.

Let’s be honest at 18-22 why wouldn’t you enter to see if someone will pay you more to play a game. Most of these kids will never play again after college so bank what you can while you can

I agree with this.

Using $250K NIL as an example, it probably took me until my 30s to earn a total of $250K after college.

I would certainly try to collect all the cash I could at that age, especially if “good college player” was my professional ceiling.

I'd expect it to increase unless changes are made. I'd also be way more interested to see just D1 numbers. I'm assuming they're hiring than D1 or I doubt they'd include them.

Yeah can't blame them. If they are even modestly smart with their money they could fund their retirement before they're 20.

Start doing multiyear deals to secure a player and if they try to leave before the deal is up make them or the new school have to pay a buyout.

35%!!!! Just give them ALL one-year NIL contracts and make everyone a free agent every damn year!!!🥴🥴🥴
IMO, it seems that people/ businesses/ donors/ fans/ etc. (except for the ultra-wealthy) are going to start limiting their financial exposure to these teams-agents-player's yearly NIL deals and the constant turnover of personnel.

IDEA: Each of the portals open the day after the individual sport's national championship and runs for 45-days before closing.

IDEA: Possibly these sponsorship contract deals could run for a minimum of 2 or 3 years, at a higher dollar amount just to keep some continuity for the sponsors. Include release buyouts for both sides.

At the end of this cycle, I would like to see the stats on how many of these 4000 players end up with no NIL AND......
NO SCHOLARSHIP!!
That's interesting. I didn't think of that. There have got to be some left without a chair when the music stops.
That would suck.

If you don't know the answer before entering the portal, it probably is not going to work out for you.
