Oats Interested in Maryland Job?

Holy crap.

Do people not follow the same narratives they argued at this time last year about Oats not being able to leave the state due to shared custodial rights with his ex-wife?

Now that's off the table and he's leaving because he's at a football school? Last year that didn't apply because Kentucky is just...well... Kentucky; but Maryland? What a power house!

🤣😂😅

Hopefully Maryland has some super wealthy boosters that can atleast make it interesting

This is just my opinion. I think the toughness of the SEC has gotta have some of the coaches rethinking their future.
Some basketball coaches are frustrated with the SEC and revenue-sharing.

I sort of doubt he's going to leave right now, but after a few more tournaments I could see their boosters becoming bitter about spending too much to fund his basketball side project if there are no titles to show for it while Tide football backslides.

Always thought he was destined for the UNC job when they finally flush Hubert. Something about him just feels like a better fit for the ACC or Big Ten wine and cheese crowd elitists.

Not crazy about the revenue sharing model in the SEC. Believe it when I see it.
If you don't mind, what's your explanation of the revenue model? It was my understanding that SEC teams could exceed the revenue sharing, and that the sharing only created a equitable minimal floor for NIL, not a hard cap for spending.

Maybe he thinks he’s done all he can do at Alabama and he probably has. Maryland actually has a pretty good tradition as a basketball school if you go back to the Lefty Driesell days. He’s probably going where he gets paid the most. And isn’t he a Northeast guy?

I bet you Nate Oates has no idea who Lefty Driesell even is

Oates promised another run to FF and a title this year. Bama boosters gave him some good money last year. After the lost to Auburn at home and in the SEC tournament same boosters were saying that they should focus on football only. Before the Duke game he was begging for NIL money to continue to flow so he can continue the run they had.

I am not surprised that the MD rumours are coming out.

You and the other contrarians last year:

"I'm not surprised Oats turned us down. He has shared custody with his ex wife and can't leave the state. Plus, Alabama's boosters are all-in on Oats. They can match anything Kentucky offers players. The basketball blueblood days are over."

You and the other contrarians this year:

"It makes sense that Oats would consider Maryland (ignores custody stuff entirely). The boosters are abandoning him and going back to making football the priority. After all, Alabama isn't a blueblood in basketball."

Hard for me to believe he’d be interested in Maryland. Willard said they’re way behind on NIL and they don’t even have a dedicated practice facility.

This... and he'd have nearly any job he'd wanted elsewhere.

This is a non story and if I was Bama I'd laugh at the notion he'd entertain it for a second.

Why are we still discussing this? There are no rumors about this. It's literally just a random twitter account with 532 followers and there's not a single piece of evidence that points to it being true.

Just because it's on twitter doesn't mean it's real. Good lord people.
