Not Good news for Kansas

"Wednesday’s news is the latest twist in Eubanks’ story, which began nearly two years ago after he’d completed his senior year at Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York. Eubanks spent his sophomore and junior years at American Heritage HS in Florida, and transcripts from that school are where the original problems stemmed from."

It doesn't look like this decision effects Kansas at all. The problem wasn't Our Savior New American, which is where Diallo went.

Yeah, if anything, Davon Dillard (a teammate of Diallo's at OSNA) getting cleared to play for Oklahoma State would be more relevant to KU.
Diallo should be cleared at some point if everything is in order, but I have no clue if it is or isn't.

Not according to Jerry Meyer on Twitter.

According to his profile, he went to high school in Florida.

This is from Alabama's website.

Signs are starting to point towards Diallo being ineligible

"Eubanks finished his high school career playing at Our Savior New American School in Centereach, N.Y. for Rev. Ron Stelzer and Eric Jaklitsch. While there, Eubanks averaged 18.5 points while leading Our Savior New American to a 24-3 record as a senior in 2013-14. He scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games, including 13 games with at least 20 points and a pair of 30-point games. He also hit at least one 3-pointer in all 27 games and knocked down multiple treys in 24 of 27 contests"

If I was KU, I would have serious, serious concern regarding Diallo. This school has major troubles. 2 years in a row where KU's top recruit could be ruled ineligible. That hurts.

I am happy whenever things go wrong for Bill Self. But if you base your expectations on what Jerry Meyer tweets, you will get surprised often. Like everyone else, Meyer is making educated guesses. Only his aren't always very educated.

Okay. I couldn't find where it said he went there. Kansas fans must be worried.

Yep, they must be.

Without Diallo, they will be incredibly vulnerable in the post, especially on the defensive end (no rim protection).

Offensively, Diallo isn't a stud or anything, but he'd be farther along than Landon Lucas and Hunter Mickelson.

Let's keep our fingers crossed. Not enough bad can happen to Kansas and their crap fanbase. Diallo will be fine, anyways. It's not like Kansas/Self are going to HELP his NBA career. This may be a blessing in disguise for him.

Oh absolutely.

If Alexander had been ruled ineligible at the beginning of the year, he would have been a lottery pick.

But instead, he plays half a season under Bill Self, drops 1,000 spots and goes undrafted.

Selby probably sits back and wonders "Man, what could have been if only I were ineligible for the entire year..." :(

ONSA isn't great for eligibility. That's established. But it's well documented that Eubanks eligibility issues stand more from his sophomore and junior years at the school in Florida. The fact that he knew what he needed, went to prep school, and then was still ineligible shows its an issue with him as well.

Davon Dillard who spent one year at ONSA like Eubanks was ruled eligible. We'll see what happens with Diallo.

***Mickelson's actually very good defensively both with steals and blocks. His weakness is Rebounding & foul-prone.

Lucas actually looked far worse than Mickelson though got a TON more mins. MUCH WORSE offensively than Hunter. Only real way that he stands out as better than Mickelson is Rebounding.

OBVIOUSLY NEITHER have the quickness that Diallo would bring.

***Eubanks declared for 'bama I believe AFTER Vick declared for Kansas. There wasn't a spot for him AT Kansas any more.
KU offered him a scholly, he decided to go to Bama instead. He chose Bama over KU like I said in my post.

***Um, ok - if he chose KU what were they going to do - kick another player off the team?! They'd've had to have rescinded the offer because there was no scholarship any more. So no - kind of hard to choose one school over another when there is no longer a spot available at the other school.

Seriously?

How about the Twins? Weren't they both rated in the top 3-10 in their class?

If you want to compare, only 1 twin wasn't drafted, and while they may have slipped down the rankings, they did so over two seasons, not one. Cliff's fall was extraordinary. I don't think we've ever seen a freshman drop so far that wasn't injury related.

Right, because the Twins are certainly the rule and not the exception [laughing]

Bill Self has an amazing ability to tank his recruits draft stocks

Coach Cal has an amazing ability to get guys drafted and improve their stocks throughout the year.

THREE #1 picks in the last 5 drafts. 2 of which were not projected to go that high when they came to Lexington (AD and KAT).

Come on now.

Now seems as good of a time as any to remind Kansas fans that Bill Self chose Landen Lucas over Willie Cauley-Stein. Didn't even bother recruiting WCS because he thought Lucas was a better prospect.

As for Diallo, I hope he gets eligible. I think college basketball would be better overall with him. If it contributes to us losing at AFH then that's too bad. But overall UK well be better off playing better competition.

Well, to be fair, maybe he was the better prospect in HS.

But after 3 years of WCS improving under Cal, and Landon Lucas regressing under Self, one was the #6 overall pick in a loaded draft class, the other will be going pro in something OTHER than sports.

Fair enough.

Cliff's eligibility and college career just ran out of time.

Screw the Choke Hawks. Hopefully they'll lose 10 games this season.

Give us a little extra cushion in the all-time count.

To be honest, I'm not really scared of KU with Diallo. Obviously without him they are pretty ordinary, but I still like our squad even with him.

Yeah, but without Diallo, Kentucky has a chance to hang 30 on them again. two years in a row would be bridge jump-inducing for a lot of Kansas fans.
