North Dakota’s Guard, Trey Eaglestaff. If This Kid Enters The Portal We Need Him.

No offense to any of the posters saying we have to get this player or that player. But, if CMP follow this advice, we will have a 40 man roster next season! I trust Coach Pope and staff to choose the players that have the talent to play in the SEC and will fit the offense/defensive schemes that Coach runs.

He's shown steady deployment and has good size, very good with the ball in his hands, explosive moving, can get his own shots. Has a huge range. Evaluating and prioritizing the guys and making sure they're a good fit with what Coach Pope has in mind will be the most critical aspect of making the transition from year to year now, in the portal area.

Gotta' spend the money wisely, and it's more than just skillset, has to be the right mindset too. The biggest concerns will be getting a veteran point guard and frontcourt help. Acaden Lewis is good, but young. We're losing a lot with Butler.

If I had to choose between this young man and Obi Agbim though, I'd still take Obi.

just saw an article that stated he has stated that he was going to enter the portal.
bet Bama goes after him, since he scored 40 against them.
with 15 scholarships, can't hurt to check on him

Agreed. I'm not worried as much about offense as I am defense. Otega Oweh and Colin Chandler can NOT be our best defenders. Definitely not in this league.
Chandler has really stepped up defensively in the last couple of games. I’d say he will be able to hold his own with some more time.

He scored on them. Did he guard anyone? That is what I am concerned with. They lost the game, correct?

By. Seven.

And led right for a decent chunk of the game and just stumbled right at the end. If that is the criteria for not looking at a player, you would exclude some of our own current guys.

Maravich scored on everyone but didn’t guard anyone and LSU never won anything while he was there. We need a well balanced team with a lot of quickness that can make up for this guy if he can’t guard. Not trying to be antagonistic but stating some facts. I would not mind having him.

Not that athletic, 42% from 2 in the Summit League, not much of a rebounder, not much of a defender, assist to turnover rate is almost even.

I think our staff can evaluate like few others, so if they want him I want him. But I’m pretty skeptical.
tough to judge just on statistics alone.............he probably takes a lot of shots as the clock is running out, he may be told not to get into foul trouble because he is their best player, guards usually don't average a lot of rebounds

Could be. I’m just wary of getting players who have already played college basketball and not demonstrated the ability to play defense. And I think you can get an idea of a player’s energy level when he doesn’t have the ball by looking at rebounding, blocks, steals, even if you don’t expect a guard to have a lot of rebounds. It’s why I love Mason Falslev.
