There are plenty I've disliked for one reason or another, but there are a few that I always liked their sportsmanship, etc. I always had a healthy respect for David Robinson (Navy). Don't remember him ever being a showboater. It's a LOT easier to remember the ones that are loudmouths or hot dogs. Any you liked/respected, and why?

I also respected David Robinson of Navy. I remember when Navy played against UK in Rupp. I think Robinson got over 40 points but UK still won. Robinson got a standing ovation from Kentucky fans as he left the game.

I've got an off the beaten path one for you. Ricky Blanton from LSU. Blue collar, mean as a snake, eat his own guts and yours too type of player. Kinda of a Chuck Hayes prototype. I've always admired players like that.

Hakeem. Seems to be a terrific guy as far as I know and he was something else to watch with his footwork and post moves

maravich--saw him at pigeon forge 6 mos before his death. he was staying at the same motel with his wife and 2 kids. i was always a fan. he was ahead of the game.
larry bird. jerry west. jerry lucas. john havlicek. fred cowens ( too bad he wasn't a cat). although not a nd fan, kelly tripuka--always played his guts out, & bill laimbeer--the player i loved to hate when he played vs my celtics.
danny ainge at byu; clyde the glide drexler; tim duncan.
wilt chamberlain was phenomenal, but rarely got to see him on tv as a college player.
there are many others but these are the first few that come to mind.

this is the infamous line by Dick Vitale that started the BBN (or at least my) dislike for him..."it's like Pee Wee Herman (rob lock) vs. Arnold (sp)Schwaneger (Robinson)" he gushed over Robinson the whole game and barely mentioned the awesome game a freshman had for us (rex)

oh and one great college player was chris jackson

robinson was a great player but after the government excused him from his active duty obligation after graduating the academy i somehow lost some of my admiration for him---that's just me. roger staubach comes to mind.

Hollis Price at Oklahoma, Harangody at ND, Tractor Traylor at Michigan, Dellavedova at Saint Mary's, and Pepe Sanchez at Temple

Chris Jackson. I wanted to hate him, but he was too amazing.

On the other hand, I really did hate Devan Downey. Ricky Blanton too.

Not a Kentucky fan, but as a Duke fan I always really liked Juan Dixon. Antwan Jameson. Randolph Childress. And, heaven help me, I liked Grievous Vaseques

Pistol Pete. Some guys today can't do today what he did then. If you did not see him play you really missed something.

Clarence ("Babe") Taylor and Al Rochelle -- starting guards for Vandy in the 1955-56 season. The Babe was a senior; Rochelle was a junior. I was 9 years old. My dad went to law school at Vandy. We lived about 45 miles from Nashville. I got to see three or four Vandy games that year.

OT ... Rochelle was an administrator in the Todd County, Kentucky school system.

TV games weren't as common as spit a long time ago, and lots of great players I never saw play.

Tony White
Dominique
Barkley
Vernon Maxwell

I didn't see him mentioned, but I loved watching Kevin Durant play for Texas. If a kid can make you enjoy watching a Rick Barnes coached team, you know he's good.

Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon

I remember Sam Bowie and Big Mel beating Phi Slamma Jamma at Rupp in 1984.

Marshall Henderson, Marshall Henderson, and Marshall Henderson. Nobody was more awesome than him and I'm so glad he finally signed a training camp contract with the Kings.
