FSU coach Mike Norvell has fired offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans.
I guess you'd call this self preservation.

I don't think that saves him. Noles fans won't tolerate another embarrassing season like this.
Just 12 months ago this guy was on top of the CFB world. Undefeated, resurrected FSU from the ashes and the darling of college coaches. Every since that moment . . . . left out of the CFB playoffs, lost by 90 to UGA, then go 1 and 9 as a supposed playoff contender. OUCH.

Bet he wishes he was back at Memphis, where he still would have been a legend. The money is better but the stress is 100X worse, especially at a Football School, how fast his honeymoon went to poo! I think he gets another chance, but if he doesn’t get back to 8-9 wins he could get canned.
His buyout is $63.8 million. Free Shoes U™ will be keeping him a while longer, but his buyout goes down by $9 million each year. What Norvell needs to do is find some guys who can evaluate talent. When he first got there, they offered a local four star DL named Manny Rogers from Jensen Beach. Norvell and Odell Haggins gushed about him being one of the top DL in the nation during a signing day interview with the Free Shoes U™ Rivals guy. I saw Rogers play 3 times his senior season. He was massively overrated. You didn't need a roster to find him. He passed ever look test, and his "film" (Hudl clip) showed a big, active, athletic guy tossing guys around and making plays. The 3 games I saw him, he showed ability on a few plays, but the rest of his play ranged from pedestrian to downright embarrassing and made you wonder why he even bothered to dress out. I asked a couple of Jensen Beach youth league coaches what the deal was with him. They told me he had a really bad work ethic and didn't love playing football and added that he wouldn't last one season at Free Shoes U™. Not only did he not last, but he also didn't have the grades to even qualify. They arranged for him to play at a JUCO, but he never showed up there and never played a down of college football anywhere. How Norvell and Haggins believed he was one of the best DL in the nation is mind boggling. They sure didn't arrive at that conclusion by watching him play football. Manny Rogers was ONE guy they did a poor job of evaluation on, and I'm guessing there were more....many more.
Pretty crazy to see what happens when you get the wrong portal qb. Then the rest of your payroll basically quits when they see things aren't going well.

Sacrifice others to save yourself. That is the mantra of corporate life. FSU will keep him for another year at least. Getting rid of the coordinators was most likely part of that deal.
They are lucky to have a won, i can't remember exactly but something happened in their 5 point win of Cal that sealed it for them.
Norvelle was heavy in the portal last year, qb got hurt, missed the playoffs and then multiple players decided to sit out the bowl against UGA. FSU and Norvelle have been tampering with our roster, Kirby didn't like it and didn't hold back. But him intentionally going after DJ whatever his name is says alot about his evaluation.
I know UF gave Billy a vote of confidence, but I think he has to win the FSU game and I am not sure the effort the gators put up against Texas beats them.
