No word yet, does this mean we are retaining Eric Wolford as O -Line Coach ?

Stoop's buddy, don't you know he's a great recruiter, according to Stoops. Only one problem he can't coach, UK's line is terrible, Bama 's line has been awful since he arrived and South Carolina fired him. Odds are he will be back, Younstown buddies stick together.

I loathe him. Even so i actually think we need him at the moment. He is a good recruiter and we just lost one in our wr coach.

I hate saying that but jmo.

Will be interesting to see how many offensive linemen hit portal. I have heard (and seen firsthand a little off the field) that Wolford could be difficult to play for.

Stoops has said several times that wants to keep the whole offensive staff. I expect him to be back.

Who did he bring in this year? Who has he been the lead on except Deone? Deone came and stayed because of Stewart. He looked like a good recruiter at Bama. I think any avg recruiter could do good at bama.

He came back in January. Coen left in February. Bush was hired sometime after that. So he hasnt exactly had time to get to work.

He recruited at a high level everywhere, not just at bama. I cant stand the guy but i unfortunately think we need him right now.

We had an OL coach? Really? I sure couldn't tell from what I saw on the field.

IMO, he BETTER be a helluva recruiter because the product he coached this past year sucked. If he's not going to recruit at a high level, why is he here?

Isn’t he a personal friend of Stoops? Stoops is nothing if not loyal to his hometown buddies.

Follow-up question: didn’t he jump jobs to Alabama while on a recruiting trip for us and immediately start recruiting the kid to Alabama? Do I have that story correct? If so, I wouldn’t care if he had been my very best friend and the best coach in the country (he most assuredly is NOT), that bridge would have been burnt forever.

This is cal all over again, keep the “yes” guys on the bench and your buddies while the program nose dives……..unbelievable we’re in this position again just a different sport.
If there’s not staff changes, why would anyone buy season tickets if your family isn’t on the team??

Yes he came back in January but he had been recruiting and building relationships at Bama yet our OL class.

Again We brought him to recruit. We have to at least get 2 classes worth of players with him. The line sucked before him and with him. We will see what they do going forward
Not sure why we need to classes from him. The OL class is no better than what we have been bringing in and next looks like more of the same. J hope you’re right but don’t see him bringing in a good class. Heck Vince was the lead on part of the guys they got

He took over for Schlarman and pretty much ruined the Oline so no it didn't suck before him.
brother we had no answers in the roster when those guys left lol. That wasn’t his fault lol. We had slipped in recruiting before that but regardless they were good his first year then he left. I was referring to last year and the year before. It was bad. Then he came in January. He didn’t even pick the portal tackle they got.

Because we’ve sucked at recruiting upfront the last few years. Yes we couldn’t recruit to save his life. The Line was more than just a coaching issue. We don’t have the players.

Yes and he isn’t bringing anything better in so how is it helping. 😆

Yall keep saying he's a recruiter but we need an o line coach. By far our worst position group (excepting maybe qb?) this year.
I agree that the position group was perhaps the worst on the team. The question that's hard to answer is was it because of poor coaching or because of below average talent. If it's mainly a talent issue, I don't think it's fair to place most of the blame on him because he didn't recruit most of these players. If the talent is first rate, then he is to blame. I suspect the talent is not very good.

I don’t think the talent was very good, for sure. Let’s see what he /we can do in the portal with starting spots to offer ..plus a yr of continuity with the system . The guys in the system getting another year in the weight room , and if we just hit on a couple of portal acquisitions we can upgrade that position. Many times , the difference between a 4 win team and 7 is a few spots ….slight upgrades and more consistency ( which all lead to more depth )

Hopefully the silence is just waiting for the coaching carousel kick into a higher gear over the next few weeks and maybe we get some luck and Stoops moves on. He’s not really in a position to fire anyone. He spoke about needing continuity, something we’ve sorely lacked with offensive assistants. Plus he’s currently a lame duck until he can show some sort of redemption, finding replacements will be difficult. No one is going to want to work for a lame duck coach, unless it’s a young guy planning to use us as a stepping stone.
