Now I loved Briscoe's fight and toughness, but I hated our 3 guard lineup the last 2 seasons. It wasn't like we had a taller guard like a Young, Miller, Liggins at the 3...we had Briscoe on the wing with 2 other average-to-undersized guards. On top of the smaller guards, we had undersized bigs as well as the guards. Poy/Willis last year and Bam was forced to play the 5.
That lineup was necessary in 2016, but this year you could tell that it just was not going to help us beat teams down low. For example, we had nobody to guard Justin Jackson when our starters were on the floor and also their bigs just ate us alive most games.
I'm glad we are getting back to length next season. Being able to stop people from driving, disrupt shots, and creating/preventing second chance opportunities off boards will be able to keep us in games even when we are not hitting any shots.
