No joke. Skal may be back next year

If Skal turns pro next year he may be the biggest draft bust in NBA History. This kid has not 1 aggressive bone in his body. He better figure out this isn't High School Ball anymore. He needs to hit the weight room. He gets pushed around like a rag doll out there. I say put him put him on the bench and give someone else his minutes who wants to play. Right now he is more of a liability then an asset. Maybe by benching him a few games it will piss him off and he will start being a bit more aggressive and contribute to this team.

The way Skal is playing now I just don't see him in the top 5 NBA draft. Look around and you will see a lot of players a lot better than him. Just facts!

Daniel Orton was drafted in the first round...certain nba teams have always puzzled me with the way they draft anymore, skal will be fine..

I know nothing so I'll ask those that seem to believe they have knowledge. If Skal continues to play as he has these last few games, averaging pretty low numbers scoring and rebounding, you still believe he'll be drafted in the lottery, or at all?

Doesn't matter where he's drafted. His guardian will have him in the draft.

This is not even up for discussion. His guardian is not waiting an extra year for his payday.

Sad thing is I doubt he puts on ten pounds of muscle between now and draft day.... such is our development and conditioning program. Then he can begin earning a decent living while he decides whether he is up to the rigors of professional basketball.

I really don't think anyone on here knows if Skal will go pro after this year. In fact, we don't know what the final product will look like at the end of the year. One thing that the NBA knows is,"You can't teach height, and he has it." There was a lot of hype about him prior to coming to Kentucky, so hopefully banging every day in practice will help him.
I really don't think it does any good to get on here and bad-mouth a young man. Is he giving everything, I don't know, but I'm sure Cal will work it out.
I just wish the young man the best, and hope it works out for him.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Say what you wanna say, but unless we see dramatic improvement I think he comes back. I mean its not like it hasn't before. The twins were expected to both go in the first round before they went to college. They stayed 2 years. Cliff Alexander anyone??? Kasey Hill? Chris Walker? I mean Skal with his talent and potential would still probably go in the 1st round if not top 10 still. But the thing is he'd be in the D-League developing when it would benefit him WAY more to come back to UK and develop. Skal as a Soph. would be a different animal. He would be older, bigger, and stronger and wouldn't be so timid and soft. He would have a totally different body and mindset IMO. He'll listen to Cal over his dumb guardian if he knows what's best.

He is what he is. He isn't getting bigger, stronger or less timid. He is twenty years old. He comes from a culture where finding the next sandwich was more important than winning a basketball game. He leaves to go where he can get paid. He has no 'loyalty' to anyone but his family. There is no concept of 'team' in Haiti.

I wonder if he would still be eligible for the draft if he quit now, and moved to Europe to play for a paying team right now. He certainly would serve him better than UK has. No pressure, no expectations.

I take it you know absolutely nothing about Skal's guardian.

That's cool, but you shouldn't be starting threads making definitive statements if you are not informed on the subject.

There is absolutely zero chance that Skal's guardian allows him to play for free beyond April.
That's what bothers me a little.

All of this talk about his "guardian" being unwilling to wait is laughable.

Skal obviously will improve between now and the end of the season, but he's so far behind other college players that there's very little chance he'll be drafted this year.

In other words, it doesn't really matter what his guardian thinks. If he leaves now, where will he be going? Because it certainly won't be the NBA.

yet he would kick your ass with ease.....what does that say about you puss?

Don't threaten me with getting the boot unless you are going to clean up the rest of the board. In my posts I have never used any language nor done any name calling, yet you threatened a week ago to ban me from the board while stuff like this exists. Say again, don't come on here posturing when there is a whole world of bad posts and vulgar posters that need the boot.

I though Haitian's we're supposed to be real bad asses?

Cal may suggest to him that he enter the draft. There won't be any playing time for a timid front line player next ;year. Not in a game and definitely not in practice.

This is a big year for him if he wants to even stay at UK or, hopefully, play in the pros.

Skal will not be here next year. His handler has already looked into cashing out on skal before. He has a lot invested in skal and is ready to get paid. Its probably not even skals decision to make. Thats the sad part.

I could see Skal having a long NBA career. Not sure he'll ever be a star, but he could be a stretch 4 in the right system. He doesn't rebound worth a crap right now, but Channing Frye, Andrea Bargnani, Ryan Anderson, Danilo Galinari, etc. aren't exactly glass eaters either. Skal has a skill set. He can shoot the mid range jumper. Don't forget he scored 26 points earlier this year on mostly jump shots.

Cal is my favorite UK coach in my lifetime. I trust him & his decision making. I would not be surprised if he makes some late season "tweak", figures out how to let Skal play more face up & SK puts up good numbers down the stretch.

IMHO, He hasn't destroyed his draft status yet, but if there is not significant improvement before the end of the year his draft status will certainly suffer.

There are a bunch of us that spend countless hours each doing nothing but cleaning up this board. Others actions don't excuse yours though. I do appreciate the things you don't do as well.
