I have been told we have about 700 people signed up for the 15 NIL collective so far. I have been told if we somehow could get to 15,000 members over the next year we could compete for the SEC in the near future. Many don’t like it but this is the genie that’s been let out of the bottle.

That’s what it will take. I don’t want to get into all the nonsense. Just am asking you to just sign up for the lowest(anything helps us). For once, we have a say in will we be any good in the future.

Some may not like it but that’s the truth.

Together we can build something.

I can sympathize with those who do not like where this NIL stuff is going. Hell, I don't like it either. I didn't mind players being able to make some money using their name, image or likeness. But what it has become is all out pay for play in the wide open. It is insane. I don't like it at all.

But there is something I like even less ------- sucking. Like it or not, NIL is now here. And it isn't going away. How we personally feel about it matters little. What matters is whether or not we embrace it and roll with it. If we do, we will have success. If we don't, we'll sink to the very bottom.

So do we want to win or not? If we do, we're going to have to open our wallets and give more. Or we can find something else to occupy our time with on Saturdays in the fall. I love football too much to give it up that easily. So I am going to do what I have to do to find a little extra to contribute to this collective. It isn't like they are demanding we give them the shirt off our backs. I can cancel a couple of subscriptions to magazines I never read anyway and eat out a couple times less each month, and boom, there's enough money to make an NIL contribution. I love this program enough to make some personal sacrifices for it.

Is there ANY WAY that Mitch could LOWER the K-Fund contribution and ENCOURAGE every season ticket holder that pays it to give the difference to your fund?

I am SICK AND TIRED of Mitch controlling what at UK MY money is funding!!!!
Well given there are 17k season tix holders. If Mitch wants it to happen for he NIL…that would get right to the number you quote gets us to compete in this race.

I’ll hold my breath for Mitch to give up his wallet while expecting fans to give out of theirs

And Stoops could need less of his unnecessary raise he got

Brady. I am already signed up, but 15000 members at what level? Also, my assumption is this is the one the coaches support as well? I haven’t heard back from my source yet on that.

Does UK control what program the money goes to? Because I don't trust they will put the majority of the money into the football program. I can see Mitch trying to divvy up the money to his non-revenue making olympic sports.

I'd be interested in doing a one-time donation but, how do I direct my money to the football program specifically?
This would be awesome..... it may be possible.... specifying the athlete. This is from the letter I received.

  • ACCESS TO THE 15 CLUB MARKETPLACE (AVAILABLE JANUARY 2023) WITH MEMBERS ONLY MERCHANDISE
  • ACCESS TO UNIQUE PLAYER INTERACTIONS AND VIDEOS FOR MEMBERS ONLY
  • TICKETS TO STUDENT-ATHLETE EVENTS FOR MEMBERS ONLY

The lowest level. We need it to be in that 3-4 million range collected if we want to take the step. If we want to be around the quality we have today it’s about 1.5 million we will need moving forward.

Don’t shoot the messenger but I really do feel like surely we could have 5,000 folks in the next year at the $25 per month level. This is the one the coaches support from what I am told. But don’t want to speak for the coaches either.

thanks for the info man..., your service to UK is appreciated

When NIL became a reality, I assumed athletes would be compensated by businesses with deep pockets. Never did I envision that NIL would be created for us fans (those who already contribute thousands of dollars in season tickets and Kfunds to UK) to fund.

Yes, I want to see UK football do well and for players to want to be here. I just don’t agree with joining a club and spending more money for something I didn’t create and is out of my control.

So 14,300 more people need to sign up between now and some time next year, I will sign up, but I think they are going to have a hard time getting people to sign up for this
NO! If we hit that number we will compete for the SEC in football is the guess.

People can complain, say they’re not doing etc. I understand. I’m not saying it’s right. I’m not saying fans should. I’m humbly asking to join me and let’s see what we can do together.

But we will get our heads kicked in very soon if the average UK fan doesn’t help. This isn’t my opinion. It’s the landscape now in college football. We are going to get a rich donor to cough up all the $ needed. We gotta do this the Kentucky way. That’s together.

I’m signing up, and want to help, And I get what your saying and I hope it happens, but I think Kentucky is going to have a very hard time getting the average fan to sign up for this. I hope they do, Kentucky football needs the backing

Are you joking? Mitch is doing the exact opposite of this.

Could he? Yes. Will he? Probably not because he doesn't want NIL, and wants all the money coming into the athletic department so he can spend it.

Mitch can't touch the collective by law. That's why he's not proactive in supporting it.

Do you mean 17k season tickholders ? Thought there's more like 40K.

Ryan Day said to keep this season’s OSU team together it cost $13 million earlier this year. That’s Stroud, Harrison Jr, the other good WR who was hurt all year, and the other 19 starters. Those three are top 10-15 picks too to give an idea of the current ceiling.

Isn’t that the same pitch they give K funders? Give more and we’ll win.

To be fair, it’s the same pitch the University’s office of philanthropy uses…”give more and watch what we can do with it”

Im all for players making money, but joe fan has paid enough to fund The university via tax dollars, to fund the Athletics department via k fund, tickets, etc…

This NIL is on sponsors, advertisers, and big media…

If the local outfits alike jmi, ksr, car dealer x, bank y, insurance group x want to pay up great.

Also, my take on NIL has always been the athletes should be thinking bigger as in looking at big national brands and media saying “hey pay up…”

Nobody uses and abuses name image and likeness more than apparel and networks…athletes should be cut in on those deals…

K-fund money, local radio and tv spots for mom n pop sounds nice…but Nike, CBS, Disney (espn), afflac, geico, Mercedes Benz, big pharma heart, skin rash, depression, hiv, etc money sounds better…

The convo should not be “hey message board joes what ya got” it should be a collective of athletes saying “ hey Nike we’re wearing your shit, hey cbs we’re on your network, hey multinationals people are seeing your products tuning in to watch us…WHAT YA GOT”

What type of commitment money-wise, for those 15k members, do you figure on avg for UK to compete? What type of benefits for members?

If we get to 15000 you think uga, tn, Florida, alabama, auburn, lsu, a and m, Oklahoma, Texas are just gonna sit by and let UK win the SEC?

Also, where are the stats and research to back up the 15000 figure and define compete?

If we are gonna give up our hard earned money to spoiled college athletes that won the genetic lottery, are we guaranteed to win the SEC within 2 to 3 years and make the playoff?

I am on board with contributing to the UK NIL, but I didn't want to do it and it turns out that not enough people participated. Therefore, my contribution wouldn't make a difference. I am going to go ahead and do it, but I don't think we get to 15k without some type of campaign.

Not gonna happen

😳

You do understand it's like one of the main parts of an AD's job ...?

NIL sure sounds like your answer then. How much you signing up for?

Can you guarantee that ALL of my money(minus your business costs) will go EXCLUSIVELY to the football program? If so I will sign up tomorrow.

Yep. Either way, you gotta trust someone else with your money...

This is getting out of control, I’m happy to shell out for season tickets. But, I’m not shelling out so an 18 year old kid can millions of dollars.

Last time I checked the NFL wasn’t starting collectives to pay for their players. At least when businesses donate, they get something in return.
