At least Saban was still coaching at an elite level. He was a bad center away from winning it all this season. Cal has fallen off a cliff the last few seasons.
Calipari doesn’t care about tradition or the program. His “legacy” is measured in NBA contracts. There were a few years early in the one-and-done era where his focus was mutually beneficial. It’s not anymore but he can’t take his eyes off his own goals to serve those of the program.
Saban made more money than Cal and he walked away.
