Nick Richards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander show great measurements at Hoop summit

"Kentucky commit Nick Richards has grown a bit since last summer and posted the highest standing vertical leap among players in this group, a fairly impressive feat for a center. His 30 inch standing vertical leap ranks among the top marks recorded by a center all-time. Having grown a bit and packing on some muscle since last summer, Richards is one of the more impressive big men from a physical perspective in the high school game at this point."

Wow. I've been writing this guy off as a spot playing project next year. But a 7-footer with a 30-inch standing vertical leap? That's the same as Willie Cauley-Stein at his NBA draft combine after three years at UK. Maybe with a few months of work with Kenny Payne he might be a freshman surprise.

Its hard not to be most have him as a top 10-15 pick in next year's draft. Kid is oozing potential.
I haven't checked out any draft predictions for next year. All I know is that I keep hearing that none of our recruits are one and dones. I disagree. I think we lose two or possibly three one and dones this year. Kentucky Effect.

Define most and don't say NBAdraft.net. Draft Express doesn't have him listed and they're one of the best mock draft sites out there.

Most? Did espn, draftexpress update their board. I couldn't even find one that has him even in the first round after next year( I haven't checked the two i named yet). Which ones did you see have him 10-15?

I asked the same thing. Even asked two family friends who scout for NBA teams and they said they nor anyone they know have him as a OAD. They like him as a two and done though

He has a soft 10 ft jumper also. This kid is a humble worker with an NBA frame. Anyone his size that has a 30 inch standing vertical is an ATHLETE!

Give this kid some time with Coach Payne and he'll be a force at the Post Position.

A couple of these kids will take a year two to get to top form. And that's good. We need some 2-3 year players. We spend all year getting kids to play their best basketball, and then they go pro. What a nice change it'll be if we manage to keep 2-3 kids every year.

hate to be the bearer of bad news we just had a 6'10 freshman with a 33" standing vert not play a single meaningful minute. Richards is no bum, but dont think of junior willie think freshman willie. that wasn't very good

Should be practice and scrimmage reports coming out on Hoops Summit guys starting today. The game is this Friday. 4 UK signees, Knox, and Bamba in the game.

Richards is quite bit better than a project.
He may be the most intimidating dunker I've seen at the high school level.

Guessing you're either very young or don't watch much H.S basketball outside of you're town if he's the most intimidating Dunker you've ever seen at the H.S level

Shai Alexander looked pretty skinny when I last saw him play this winter. Not only has he grown another inch, looks like he's filled out a bit as well. This kid has incredible upside.

Shai should be a really good defensive guard for us. Similar skillset and measurements to Liggins, only skinnier.

Nick Richards passes the eye test imo. He looks mature and older than 18. I like those kind on my team.

Can we wait to see how our guys shoot before we act like we are the gang that couldn't shoot straight?

UNC has not been a very good shooting team over the last few years, but they are an elite rebounding team. That's the key.

If we get Bamba especially, we should be an excellent rebounding team with off the charts defensive potential.

If our shooting is just average, that still may be good enough to make us one of the best teams in the country by seasons end.
