Listening to KSR this morning and they were talking about our QB for next season. Matt said he would bet that next years QB1 isn’t on the team now and that he has heard the staff already knows who it will be. Besides bashing KSR, Any ideas who might transfer in?

Does the kid from Owensboro get to play at Rutgers this season?

Or is there another kid that we recruited who chose a bigger school that isn’t getting to play?

Or does Scangarello have a kid that he knows like Coen did with Levis?

Been saying for a while UK didn’t have next years QB currently on the roster . Like taking college ready transfers in this current climate over molding a 3 or 4 star high school kid. Should be fine at QB next year I assume

That makes me think it’s someone the staff already has a relationship with. So a QB they recruited coming out of high school but missed on? I could see Wimsatt returning but don’t know enough to say if his game is suited for the offense.

Matt also said Beau would NOT be returning.
Then I would be looking at QBS on the West Coast. Scangs may have identified one of those 5 star California QB's who is sitting behind a 6th year, Super Senior, Covid year, Grad Transfer NIL champion QB who needs a fresh start......

Or....look no further than QB3 at UT.

If we want to get a high quality QB transfer they better get the pass pro fixed. No QB is going to volunteer to take the kind of punishment Levis has taken so far this year. 3.5 sacks per game so far - ouch!
Some of that is on Will for holding onto the ball too long. It’s confusing to see him not take off and run more so far also. He needs to hit his check downs quicker. He has those great young long ball WR’s this year, so it’s understandable why he is slow to check down or run, but it would help if he made those decisions faster.

Almost all our sacks could have been avoided if Levis threw it away or checked down to RB or TE

If the staff already has a strong idea of a QB who will portal in & compete for the job, then it is most likely someone we heavily recruited. We already have a relationship with the kid, his fam, his HS coach. I've speculated a lot, with zero evidence, that Gavin Wimsett might come home to play for a winner instead of getting his head beat in by Ohio, Mich, Mich St, Penn.

After these first 3 games, is the bigger question for 2023....what is our run game gonna look like with no CRod? The staff expecting Moorman to outperform his ranking & be a day 1 starter or co starter with Wright? McClain finally live up to preseason hypes?

Has anyone seen much of Wimsatt? He’s listed on their roster at 6’3” 230 but I haven’t seen him throw. Stats are not good on a really small sample size.

I may be in the minority with my Opinion but this is one of the reasons I can’t stand Matt Jones. For him to say this is disrespectful to the guys on the team busting their ass every day in practice.
Be honest, would you feel comfortable letting one of our backups start? Moreso than a potential high caliber transfer?

Any word on what the long-term projection is for Destin Wade? He is still listed as a QB on the roster. Is he going to stay at QB or would the look to move him to TE or over to the defense with his brother?

No way anyone on the staff told him this. If it got out they were saying this for public consumption, then there is no reason for Hogan or Wade to stay thru this year.

Pure conjecture on his part, I am sure.

Matt loves to stir the pot, to keep his name in the news.

They didn’t want the Owensboro kid then and they won’t want him now . He was an Eddie Gran recruit. He does not have the arm talent to be effective in a pro scheme like we run now .

That’s all true. I’m not sure he said it was someone on the staff but you are correct about our current backups.

Maybe the plan was to have Allen transfer, get in some game action at Tarleton then transfer back.
You Allen truthers need to give it a rest. He’s not SEC quality and our program would be taking a step back if he was QB1. Just doesn’t have the arm talent our program needs. Maybe the UK of old but not now

Agreed on all parts.

On Wimsatt...I sort of hope it's not him. He was never that great in Ky IMO and he's all athlete and pretty run the mill thrower. I don't want a Terry Wilson-ish QB going forward.

RB....I bet Ramone Jefferson gets a clearance for another year and will be starting RB with Wright fighting it out.

Certainly not going out on a big limb by Jones. We’ll return arguably two of the best receivers in the SEC in Key and Brown, not to mention a healthy/deep/talented slew of tight ends. Combine that with an Oline that will be a year older and more experienced and I can’t imagine a more attractive destination for QB’s entering the portal.

The staff told this to Allen. That is why he left right before fall camp. He didn't mind being the backup again this year if he was going to take the reigns next year.

And CRod is good at blocking on pass plays.

I know hating Jones is a hobby for most of you but he spent Saturday partying with Stoops, Marrow and the staff. I’m sure that’s where he picked it up.

Hope he’s not on the roster, think Hogan took a snap when Levis’ helmet came off against Florida. But, other than that no one on the roster has taken a snap at UK.

If Levis goes super high in the draft.... yeah, they will come.
Has anyone seen much of Wimsatt?
Same him first game. He's just a semi-sorta freshman but I did not come away saying "That guy is gonna be a special player in a pro style offense"
Far from it
Don't think he's the answer
