Decent offers

With his size and 4.38 speed he may be a return specialist. Looks really shifty but awfully small to be an SEC RB.

At 5'8" 175 ...no way is he being recruited to play rb in the sec...Maybe special teams returner or db...

Change of pace guy and can play slot.
Given lack of depth at RB, love it.

Dexter McCluster says hello

And for UK representation in the "too small to play RB in the SEC" conversation I present Derrick Locke and Boom Williams.

These are the types of guys that WV thrive on. I'm sure Shannon will find ways to get him the ball in space just like the small speed guys WV always have and then it's off to the races. Very happy with this commitment. This guy will be a damn good playmaker for us in the years ahead. Mark it down.

Speaking of smallish backs the first guy that came to mind is the Robinson kid for Mississippi State that no one on our defense seemed able to tackle. He flat killed us. He's about this kid's height though he's thicker. Personally I like short backs because they have some physical advantages. Low center of gravity so they can change directions quicker, low pad height, and hard to see for defenders. A guy like this is extremly hard to get down in the open field and if the 40 time is close to accurate he is capable of taking to the house. 175# is not a bad weight for a 5'8" guy, if he can add some lower body mass, watch out.

Here is what I like. Was the star player on the State title team in Ga highest classification and played for Rush Probst former Hoover Coach. If kid was 6' he plays for UGA.

I know some have already said it but this is the type of kid that has made WVU roll.

I started having flashbacks of Draak Davis and Raymond Sanders before watching his video. They were slow as snot but this kid can FLY!

Will say this also 2100 yards in a season and 20 TD in AAAAAA playoffs in Ga is a hell of lot better competition than a school in Berea Ky plays

A 5-8 190-5# bowling bowl in a couple years could be tough to get a hand on. If he were only 5" shorter like Mark Higgs.

Well this should make the fans who wanted some GA recruits happy. I think we have a good one in this kid.

Kinda reminds me of Darren Sproles. Went and watched some videos. 5ft 6in 190# 4.47 40. Sproles is the first player in NFL history with 2,200+ all purpose yards in 4 different seasons (2008-2011) Thanks Wiki. We can only hope!! Oh yeah, first post. Hello everyone. Go CATS!!

You can play small backs in the sec by committee , you just can run them as a feature back with 20+ carries a game .

I was an official in the game he played in Enterprise, AL this year and if I remember he ran for at least a 100 yds. I remember him being very shifty and rarely went down after initial contact. He was coached by Rush Propst, a legend in High School football in Alabama for Hoover High. As a matter of fact I think he had an excellent game against Hoover. Very nice pick up, the reason I remember this game so well is being an implant in Alabama in the Army I had heard KY was recruiting a few of Colquitt, GA guys. I worked Rush Propst side pretty neat experiance.

Rolaid, totall agree with you. This kid played the likes of Hoover High in Alabama were he had a great game. There team was ranked in the top 10 in the nation for a while coached by one of the best coaches in the Southeast in Rush Propst.

I saw him play in state championship game. Didn't notice him especially, mostly because that team was loaded, the entire team was very good on both sides of the ball. It's one of those "football magnet" schools outside of metro Atlanta and in opposite end of the state from me. But if he played there, he is a good player or he wouldn't have seen the field.

Thanks for all the "I've seen him play and I know that school or coach welll" statements.

Slugger-

Archer is absolutely loaded. They are all juniors and sophomores. Should have beaten Colquitt in state finals. The problem with Archer, though, is that it's about 30 miles from UGA, and South Carolina has offered everyone on the team and has been recruiting them since they were freshmen.

Archer started the year out with something like a 1-3 record and then reeled off 10 straight wins before the championship game, they could be the favorite to win it in 15 provided they don't have a bunch of guys transfer out to more of the traditional state power schools. I didn't realize they were so young which explains their early season troubles.

Man I love this kid. He played in GA 6 A class against the toughest comp and dominated. He won't be brought down by arm tackles and right when you think the other team has him somehow some way he gets past them love this kids toughness. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1396163/highlights/135918375[/URL]

Darren Sproles is 5'6" 190 and he does ok playing RB in the NFL

dear slugger-do you really think he's going to stay 175 pounds. Probably was his weigh in for senior fall practice.

This young man plays in the same region as our local high school. Top to bottom I would put this region up against any region in the country: includes Colquitt County (which finished in the top 10 of most national high school polls), perennial powers Lowndes High, Camden, and Valdosta. At one point this season, 4 of the 6 region teams were in the top 9 in Georgia's highest classification, and 4 of the teams ended the season in the top 10.

I have watched Sihiem for a while against some very good competition, and he is the real deal. Don't let his size make you think he can't play RB at the SEC level. He can. He has great vision, speed, quick cuts, and he is tough to bring down.

He will have a great football mindset, because no one takes football more seriously than the Colquitt County folks. Not only will they regularly have 10,000 in attendance from a town of 14,000 people and a county of about 45,000, they will typically sell several thousand pre-game meals prepared by their school's extra-curricular activities groups to help raise funds. On Friday nights Colquitt football is the only show in town, and the rest of the week it is the only topic of discussion in town.

As an aside, their local paper is reporting that every one of Colquitt's 15 senior starters have been offered by colleges.

Biggest takeaway from the highlights video for me was how shifty he is and how well he sees the field. He hesitates just slightly to see openings and then shoots through them with great acceleration. Looks to be a very smart football guy and, if these highlights (I know, I know) give us any real indication we may have come away with a big steal. Kind of excited to see this kid in Commonwealth now but he may be a special teams guy his first year if he plays much at all. If Dawson loves this kid though who knows how he will use him and how much.

It's a question of need and skills. After Heard left, we need another running back who can contribute. A player with King's size and speed can have a productive role in the offense Shannon Dawson runs. His speed and his motor will translate in our system. Boom Williams may be a comparison. King is pretty much the same height and speed as Boom, but not yet as muscular and developed as Boom.

King is the real deal. Forty touchdowns and 2000 yards rushing in Georgia's highest division is pretty amazing, not to mention being named a 2nd team All American. Great pickup by Dawson! Cats!!!
