Nebraska just lost to Georgia Southern- update: He Gone

I don't discount Nebraska coming after Stoops
F Nebraska. He isn't leaving UK to go climb in that dumpster fire. Look at what he's done and is continuing to do at UK. Also, I'm sure Pellini and perhaps even Marrow have told him things about that situation that probably seal it as a hard "No".

Leaving Kentucky football for Nebraska football would be like the stupidest gotdamn thing you could ever do in your life.

That conference is dead. That School is over in football. R I P.
Oh, I agree 100% with that. I don’t think he goes there, was just making a comment about coaches salaries.

I think they end up with Matt Campbell from Iowa State.

Coach Stoops is here for life. Like Bobby Bowden at Florida State.
I truly believe that. This is his baby. His creation. We're going to make the college football playoff here. Maybe this year maybe next year and definitely when they put it at 12 teams.

Coach Stoops ain't going nowhere till he sees that playoff. You can bet your ass on that.

But I truly believe we're going to be playing in the national championship playoffs soon. I truly believe it

I hope he stays long term and believe he does. I posted in another thread that the longer he stays here, the less likely it is that he leaves.

The last coach to change from one P5 program to another after 10 years at their initial school….Mack Brown 25 years ago when he went from UNC to Texas. It just doesn’t happenz

Good stat yo!!

Don't think it happens until October, I read his buyout drops to 50% or so then. Unless he agrees to that amount to step down now. I think he is smart enough to realize his time there is over.
That’s correct. It goes from $15 million to $7.5 million if he is fired anytime after September 30. The only game he has left prior to October 1 is Oklahoma.

I don't see CMS leaving for anything short of a quality, decent-performing blue blood, and that is not today's Nebraska cornhuskers.

I think CMS is loyal to UK....as much as a HC can be in CFB.

Even if he were "willing to listen" --
I think his slow turnaround at UK is a turnoff to "big-time" programs who expect a nearly immediate return to winning. They will not give him (or anyone) 3+ years to create a OL/DL-centric program that takes multiple recruiting classes with retention & development to create the talent/depth to win in Stoops' fashion.

I also think our offense is still considered to be conservative when compared to UT (Chumley), USC (Riley), Kiffin (baker's dozen of hires/fires), Wake Forest's HC (whoever he is?), UTEX (Sark), etc. I suspect Blueblood-U will be looking for high-flying 40+ PPG in a new coach and not run-first/pass-second model for which Stoops is known.

I believe Stoops is safely at UK (for now) and certainly not going to consider seriously a NU offer beyond bumping his own personal and staff pay a little bit as is par for the course.

GBB!
