School officials: Upstate P.E. teacher charged after relationship with 8th grade student
SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. - A former physical education teacher at Hillcrest Middle School has been charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second-degree, according to a statement sent by Greenville County schools Friday.
Meghan Dougherty resigned Thursday after Principal Kelli Farmer spoke with Dougherty about allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with an eighth grade student.
Dougherty's has posted bond set at $25,000.
The school administration contacted the Simpsonville Police Department that same day about a possible inappropriate relationship between the teacher and a 14-year-old female student, the statement says.
