I went to a pretty popular politinut page and got the real story(stories) from the comments. Most popular was its a deepfake with second place going to a rambunctious clone. My favorite was probably a troll, but claimed her “tiddies” were enhanced with the military’s medbed technology, which will be available for all who have health problems or flapjack teats very soon.

Maren Morris is a musician (who I'm sure most of this board had never heard of before her comments), Boebert is a politician who votes on laws that actually impact us. I get what you're trying to say but they aren't the same
Sure. But I'd counter that Boebert, seemingly, just made a bad mistake. A one time thing. That's not excusable and politicians need to make smarter decisions on stuff like this, as opposed to musicians.
But Marens actions aren't a mistake or a one-off. She's raging on tons of other country music stars, continuing to make charged political statements. Her newest video is basically burning down a republican town. She's also much more of a role model for society than someone in politics is.
I think you can make the case that either is a bigger deal and you probably wouldn't be wrong. But that wasn't my point anyways.
I'd give Boebert the benefit of the doubt if this was just a one-off thing and she didn't have a long history of being a bad person who tried to cover for her sex offender ex-husband. All told, her situation will probably just be used as a means to embarrass her side of the aisle with no repercussions. In Maren's case, I bet she's had more people listen to her songs in recent days solely because of this news story than in a good while. I'd say if your role model is a D list pop-country singer than you need to find better role models.
I'd take that bet. The only way she will get more listens is if she truly changes her genre, which she very well could, because some of her songs are more pop than country. And that might be her play, to truly leave country music behind.
But until it does she will only lose plays. People like music for the sound. Liberals who don't like country aren't going to all the sudden start playing her country music, because at the end of the day, it's not music they like. On the other end, tens of thousands of country music fans are removing her off playlists and not buying her album. They can move on to one of the 10,000 other country artists to fill the void.
Same thing would happen if some white rapper made a bunch of outlandish political/racial remarks.. hes not gonna find a new fanbase of Burts and Ralphs who now all the sudden can tolerate rap music. He'll only get blackballed by his music community.
You political dweebs can ruin literally any topic.
