National Semifinals Thread

That was not over the back guys. Oregon didn't box out. Damn, put a body on him! Instead of boxing out, they all went in the direction of the ball allowing Meeks to move right under the basket.

Carolina has just been granted an amendment to the new rule and can only be eliminated by quadruple elimination.

Whos the dumbass who just didn't block out ...twice???? omg. basketball IQ 0.000000

unc misses 4 straight ft's just board it and get it to a guard to go straight to the rim 100 miles an hour, layup or foul for the win...nope.

You would have thought after the first time he would give it a greater effort on the second...nope...both times he just concedes that sure they'll make it and i'll lazily go to inbounds the ball...

terrible way to lose a game.

Meeks pushed the guy in the back to get the last rebound

He didn't. They didn't box out. It's as simple as that. Your eyes want you to believe he shoved him, but he didn't. Piss poor blocking out.
No way they get 2!!! rebounds there none, without pushoffs.

Altman cant be out there boxing out

My grade school coach taught me how to box out. If Altman would have stressed it with his kids, they would have had a chance to play for a National Title.

No excuse for losing 2 rebounds off of missed free throws back-to-back. That's coaching.

Go watch the replay. Meeks shoved him and was then totally draped over the Oregon players back

Meeks shoved Oregon guy completely out of bounds. Let Bam try that. They'd go to the monitor and give him a flagrant 1.

Your eye balls must have fallen out.
Haha....there is contact on every missed free throw. Oregons guy went for the ball instead of boxing out. Put a body on the guy!!!! I wanted Oregon to win more than anyone on this board, but I also realize they didn't freaking box out...they chased the damn ball.

I didn't watch this game. First time this entire tournament I wasn't watching when games were going on. I just couldn't stand to see North Carolina playing when it should have been us. I kept tabs on the score from time to time but didn't even know how it ended until I seen the score and then watched the replay for the final FT. I watched the Gonzaga game. I will watch Monday night rooting for Gonzaga like we did Nova last year.

Anyone want to say it wasn't a foul?

I wil...definitely wasn't a foul guys. CBS just proved that. Jordan Bell just gave zero effort on final two plays. All Pinson did was jump straight up and tap ball with Bell doing nothing.

Bell went right where he thought ball would be instead of boxing out and Meeks just moved right in front of him and got the ball.

Had Bell just tried there then they'd have got one of them.

It wasn't over the back, but Meeks did push the Oregon player out of the way.

Say what you want, but I promise you Meeks DID NOT move in front of the Oregon player.....

Are you allowed to shove a guy if he isn't blocking out?

Look, if that was Bam who got that rebound you wouldn't be saying anything or if roles were reversed and it was Jordan Bell getting it, you wouldn't be saying anything.

All Meeks did was slide in and put a body on Bell to get the rebound. I don't think there was a foul anywhere in there. Remember Meeks does weight about 265 so big boys pack a punch

You should be barred from serving on a jury.

Post like this are as dumb as it gets. You honestly think anyone has got to the top of the coaching profession making millions of dollars a year without teaching, or emphasizing, blocking out?

News Flash! Coaches don't have X-Box controllers on the sidelines and can't control everything.

You have now described the play in two completely different ways, once that Meeks slid in front of Bell, and then that the just put a body of him. Neither of these things are what actually happened. Meeks shoved him in the back, from behind, with his arm, not his body.

No foul. Piss poor effort by Oregon. They just showed it 5 times. Nobody blocked out. Pitiful

Sorry Bob but you're wrong. They showed it 5 times on the post game from the side shot so you wouldn't see the push. But right after the buzzer they showed the shot from under the basket. Meeks with 2 hands in the guys back and pushed him under the basket. Very obvious foul.

Correctly called that's Meeks fouling out with Oregon having 2 FTs with a chance to tie. The ref favoring posters will say calls won't be made in that situation but they should be.

Just heard that Karnowski already has 2 fouls.

You know that's actually not a bad thing...if could orchestrate that...no argument here.

In all seriousness though, have you watched the replay....did you watch CBS break those rebounds down like 10 times and talk about it. Go watch again on ESPN...do you not see where Bell just stepped in he lane? Meeks made a little move and I do agree that he DID give Bell and small arm to the back but I don't think it was a foul at all. Bell didn't make any damn effort so I don't see any reason for the ref to bail him out..do you? His contact wasn't enough to warrant a foul.

Either way I don't really care and none of us should.

Meeks would not have grabbed that board had he not pushed bell out of the way. So, yeah. That's a foul.

What's "dumb" on your part is to give Coach Altman a pass on the fact that either he doesn't teach blocking out properly or the player he had on the low block WOULDN'T or COULDN'T block out to get a rebound on a missed Free Throw.

That's coaching. No need for an "X-Box controller" if it is EMPHASIZED in practice or the coach has the proper player in place to get a freakin rebound on a missed free throw, the easiest rebound in a game.
