If I remember correctly the folks at UK were going to sell naming rights for Commonwealth Stadium. If this is true has anyone heard anything about any corporations interested? Also, for fun what are some names you guys would like to see?

Alltech. Nice local business doing some good for the state. A lot of good, actually. Feed for horses and livestock, added to the Bourbon Trail, and trying to get into more research. I wouldn't mind that at all. Not to mention the equestrian games.

Other choices would be Toyota although that is a big company who puts more stock into academia and bass fishing than sports. RJ Corman wouldn't be bad. Would be cool for an air raid siren on passing TD's and a RJ Corman engine going off on running TDs. If there was a big organization of alumni Wildcats then that would be cool. Wildcat Alumni Stadium.

Alltech Bluegrass Stadium.
RJ Corman Stadium.
TMMK Stadium.

Just to name a few. If they even think about going towards Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, or any other mediocre pizza slop, I will go freaking insane. This is the school of the Commonwealth- don't give the name to the highest bidder just because of money. Take pride in our program.

I have been quietly hoping Big Ass Fans would buy one or both Rupp and CWS. I would love to see our guys play at Big Ass Commonwealth Stadium and Big Ass Rupp Arena.

In the spirit of gameday traditions I'd be all for:

Woodford Stadium
Maker's Mark Stadium
Jim Beam Stadium
Four Roses Stadium
Heaven Hill Stadium

We have an awesome and unique stadium name in Commonwealth Stadium and some of us are looking forward to turning into schools like Western and UofL and becoming "Maker's Mark Stadium"? I like Maker's Mark, Papa John's and Houchens as much as the next guy, but that doesn't mean I want the NAME OF MY STADIUM to be named after a fast food joint, a bottle of bourbon, or discount grocery store.

In the SEC stadiums are named after people, not fast food joints or other businesses. There are some things (like the name of your stadium) that you just don't sell out.

I mean I can just hear the punchlines coming out of some of these names.."Ken Towery Tires Stadium".."Raising Cane's Stadium", "Wild Turkey Bourbon Stadium".."Kentucky Gentleman Stadium"

We have a great and unique Stadium name with Commonwealth. Let's not become like WKU and UofL and become Dairy Queen Stadium or Dollar General Stadium or Dunkin Donuts stadium. We get enough money from the SEC and football revenues that we don't need to sell out our stadium name. Look around the SEC and tell me how many Burger King and Papa John's stadiums you see.

Would you rather the place we play basketball be called Rupp Arena or KFC yum center?

Would you rather our football stadium be named Commonwealth (in honor of our state), or would we rather appear to have no honor and be desperately seeking money by naming it Domino's Pizza Stadium?

We're Kentucky and we're in the SEC. We're not Western aka Houchens, or Louisville aka Papa John's/KFC. We're the University of Kentucky. We don't sell out Rupp and Commonwealth to become named after a fast food joint, no matter how much money they give us.

Jnewc, I would like to direct your attention to this. If UK is indeed selling the rights then I'd much rather the stadium be named after a Kentucky proud business or product. If. IF. This thread is completely theoretical and people are just having a laugh.

I'd rather the name stay Commonwealth Stadium, but if it has to change I'd rather it be by an RJ Corman or an Alltech. Some company that is rooted deeply in Kentucky and the people. Ex: Alltech with the equestrian, bourbon, and feed. RJ Corman which is, well, RJ Corman.

Nobody is calling for Commonwealth to be renamed.

Tell that to Florida, Mississippi State and South Carolina. Their stadiums are named for people. People who died and left the universities and athletics departments millions/billions of dollars. Hell, USCjr's is named for an old lady. The only things Ben Hill Griffin, Martha Williams-Brice and Floyd Wade Davis had to do with football is that they funded stadium renovations.

And how about basketball arenas? Does it really matter if Arkansas calls theirs Bud Walton Arena or Walmart Arena? It is the same thing. Naming rights are naming rights, regardless if the name is a corporation or the CEO or owner of said corporation.

Just leave Commonwealth's name alone.

Get the field renamed for Jerry Claiborne or Blanton Collier, however, and I will not complain. Someone with a fat checkbook and nothing to promote, including him or herself, needs to underwrite the new surface, and anything else Mitch asks for, in return for getting CM Newton's name off that field, and get a football man's name on it.

If we get K-Y Jelly to buy it we can salvage the name and make it K-Y Commonwealth Stadium. People would think the K-Y stands for Kentucky. Little would the opponent know until they took the field and the team used it on them before running the score up
