Name of the ref that called that technical?

you think it's ok for a player to not have enough self control to avoid breaking the rules? Sucks, but he screwed up. Such is life. Maybe we should have rebounded and never been in overtime in the first place!
Another dumbass spewing what talking heads say without knowing, rebounds didn't change the lead
  1. Disrespectfully addressing an official or gesturing in such a manner as to indicate resentment.
  2. Using profanity or vulgarity; taunting, baiting or ridiculing another player or bench personnel; or pointing a finger at or making obscene gestures toward another player or bench personnel.
  3. Inciting undesirable crowd reaction.
  4. Contacting an opponent, while the ball is dead, in an unnecessary, unacceptable and excessive manner.
  5. Flagrantly (severe or extreme) contacting an opponent while the ball is dead.
  6. A flagrant noncontact infraction that involves extreme, sometimes persistent, vulgar, abusive conduct when the ball is dead or live.
  7. Participating after having been disqualified (noncontact flagrant 2 technical).
  8. Leaving the playing court and going into the stands when a fight may break out or has broken out (flagrant noncontact infraction).
  9. Fighting as in Rule 10-5.
  10. Disrespectfully contacting an official

I wonder if you are punished in a BB game in Australia for celebrating. Celebrating is considered poor sportsmanship here.

"He made the right call" is the equivalent of believing there is an objective standard by which these refs operate, and that Adams maintained that standard.

We all know that's BS. I don't understand the contrarian narrative tonight. Very strange, even for some of these guys who pride themselves on being the lone wolf who sets the rest of us straight.

Maybe Jerry Tipton will corner Pat Adams and ask that question. Hell, he doesn't have a problem trying to punk our players, you'd think he and ole Pat might have a drink or two after the game and talk about it.

You must be kidding. Pat Adams probably just got added to Tipton's Christmas card list.

Nah, Tipton got a quarter-chub when that call was made. He loves the drama this will create.

I'm still hoping Tipton takes a trip out to the Cibolo Creek Ranch. They seem to really treat their guests well.

Even the announcers agreed that the T was not necessary and should not have been called. Go Cats!!

There were a lot of reasons we lost this game. It amazes me how much our "fans" can pick out that one play or call that beat us. Go Cats!!

I'm just tired of this "good ole boy club" mentality that announcers seem to be a part of. By that I mean they rarely ever question refs or coaches. It's like they go so overboard in protecting them that it becomes blatantly obvious what is going on. Occasionally you'll get guys like Bilas or maybe one or two others that calls out a ref for a bad call but, you never hear anyone say what really needs to be said.

Well, we were ahead by one and going to be shooting freethrows to seal the win. So, yeah I can kinda see how our "fans" (as you call them) could point to that play and say that's the one that beat us.

Because it came down to that one play, regardless of what got UK to that point.

It's also amazing that for all the talk of how UK was outrebounded, folks ignore the fact that Poythress was out and that Willis was missing down the stretch.

The narrative can swing both ways, which makes that call even more crucial.

This board has a ton of those guys.

It was the right call. I think it is BS that it is that way bc like Bilas said if he would have caught it after slamming it down it is no T.

So proud of Humohries. Feel worse for losing bc of him than anything else. Kid played his heartr out today. Hope he holds his head high.

I've seen balls spiked in countless other games. No technicals. It's a judgement call not an auto T. It was piss poor judgement by that worthless bastard Pat Adams. The kid was excited. He wasn't taunting or complaining.

If a TAM player is in the same position and slammed the ball, wonder if the T is called?

the more I think about it ...I think no. 100 out of 100 times they would not T up the home team for being excited about making a game winning play against UK.

Now I am upset they called it.

When you lose by one point it only takes one play to beat you.

I agree. However, there were a lot of things that didn't go so well in this game. How about all of the holding on Jamal, or the offensive charges called on us but not on the other end? How about Willis taking the first half off? How about Briscoe taking all those jumpers? It just bothers me that we can single out one player or one call. Go Cats!!

Well, after we played such a poor game and were ahead by 1 with seconds to play it's the one call that did COST us the game. Very easy to single out really. It was very obvious!

lol @ the idea of Tipton going after Pat Adams at all.

Jerry is going to stay up all night making calls to every current, retired, or future basketball referee he can dig up. He'll write a chickensh*t column in the morning that quotes the only 2-3 of them that will defend the technical and won't write a single word about what the overwhelming majority of officials would tell him.

I bet this is Jeb's favorite movie.

Slow down there tough guy. I am positive you thoroughly enjoy running around calling everyone a moron.

However, just to set the record straight in my case. I posted in the other thread that the auto "T" was always my assumption. However, that has pretty clearly been pointed out to be false by the posting of the actual technical guidelines.

I am able to point out when I am wrong. I wonder if you would be able to?

But by all means, please continue scouring the threads looking for someone to criticize. That's a full time job in itself around here. Glad someone volunteered for the cause. Go get em, tiger.

In most instances, I would agree with you. But that one call swung the lead. And it was unnecessary.
