Name for Coaching Opening Via Jeff Goodman

Your problem right now is you aren't going to attract a lot of young guys because they don't know how long Cal is going to be at Kentucky. The young/hungry guys want to have stability too. Then you see he hired a younger guy last year and guy was hired immediately so he may have been hesitant. It's a catch 22 in a lot of ways.

I'd have gone the NBA route myself but that may be harder sell as well depending on what type of guy you want to bring in.

Never heard of this guy but this sounds like another yes-man

Step on up Brusier. You might have a guy lower than you comin in.

Why not go for a young up-and-coming assistant coach who doesn't have a lot of offers but is hungry and diligent? Or even a guy like Strickland we used to have.

Enough with the damn buddy system it took forever to get rid of Barbee. I thought we were working on Bruiser now.

He hired a young up and comer with Jai Lucas and he left after a year, lol

If you were tasked with assembling a coaching staff to work under you, would you hire a dude who has a decent resume, but you’ve never met them or worked them before. Or would you hire a dude that you’ve worked with, have a good relationship with, know their strengths, and you know them well?

I fail to see why the label “yes man” keeps getting thrown about.

Wow didn’t see another buddy hire coming from a mile away…. Cal is so damn predictable these days….

I’d hire the best guy for the job, doesn’t matter if I’ve known him 10 years or 10mins.

Cal only wants to hire his buddies, and look where that’s gotten him.

Agreed wholeheartedly! College basketball is full of trustworthy friend hires because you want to keep your program clean and that requires being around people you know you can trust that have your best interest.

Glad Cal waited 4 months only to hire another yes man!
What opening do y’all think there was to fill? Like 5 people have said this when we clearly had no opening past hiring Welch and aren’t allowed to hire a new coach yet?

I said with not many prospects. Lucas was kind of well known. I'm talking rolling the dice on an unknown own youngin. Could it be worse than Barbee, Brusier or this next buddy?

I'd rather try to find the next Brad Steven's than the known Barbee type. Convince me otherwise. How many yes man does he need?

So roll the dice on an unknown unproven coach and hope for the best? Sounds like a solid plan.
