Musselman

I asked my ul buddy if he had heard anything about Musselman to ul. He said it was the first time hearing it. Doesn’t mean anything, but thought it was interesting.

It sounds like the rails have come all the way off in Arkansas. He's probably looking for any out.

All season long we have been hearing that Kenny was going to be terminated before the week is out. Well, he is still there! These rumors are just nothing more than entertainment.

I think they're 2 different things.

Kenny Payne is going to be fired. The rest is speculation, which is normal media/twitter stuff. I don't think they're trying to create a story. I don't think anyone has claimed to have inside info. They're just guessing when they say that.

In terms of the Musselman story: I don't believe that Twitter account has a legitimate source. I want to be clear on that.

However, there's obviously a lot of trouble within the program right now. And I do believe he wants to get out. It's possible he stays. But I think if another good program is interested, he's gone.

I don't think Hurley falls into that category. He's a legit great coach and won a title. He's won everywhere he's been and rebuilt UConn in a few years. The issue with Hurley is you're not convincing him to leave UConn. He's got him set up in the perfect situation.

He won 62% of his games at Wagner. He won 58% of his game at Rhode Island. If that is winning everywhere he's been, I would hate to see the coaching record of a mediocre coach!

LOL In the past 13 seasons he has finished NCAA Champion ONE time, had 2 round of 64's and 2 round of 32's. BTW, he also has an NIT second round to his credit and 7 seasons without a post season. At the moment, he is flavor of the month.
Lol and Cal has 1 title in 14 years. 2 round of 32s and one round of 64. And a NIT appearance.

Playing the other side, why would he be gone after one bad season of putting together a ton of transfers? Yeah, this season is a dumpster fire but every coach seems to have one or two of those.

Yeah because he had to take some time to build or rebuild each program. Winning isn't a light switch you turn on immediately. You don't see a trend here with all three programs he coached at?

I guess I would rather see some sustained excellence. I want to see if he can hold UConn at the top for another 2 seasons after this one.

It sounds like the locker room is on fire, and he's wanting to distance himself. I assume a lot of guys will leave and recruiting may prove difficult for a minute.

You lost me on that post.
Lol you literally said he has these stats and when I pointed out so does Cal. You say I lost you. Calipari fanboys and their blind love of Cal is hilarious. Dudes duped you people so hard you forgot you're UK fans. Im Sure you were calling cal the flavor of the month in 2009.

Actually, Cal's last 14 years is sooooo much better than Hurley's. It isn't even close considering the multiple FF's, etc. So, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Also, I am not a Cal fanboy. I am ready for Cal to go and I've said that several times. However, I am not a Hurley fan. Cal's record before coming to UK is superior to Hurley's yet people think Hurley will kill it here.

As for 2009, I had virtually no opinion on Cal one way or the other. I was happy with his results until the wheels fell off and now I do think we can do better. I am just not sure who will make us a powerhouse again. I'm not sold on Hurley. I will go on record saying that too.

I would hope Cal's last 14 years were better than Hurley's considering Hurley spent much of that time coaching at Wagner and Rhode Island.

Let's compare Hurley's 14 years at UConn vs. Cal's first 14 years at UK. I'm guessing Hurley's will be better. And I say this as someone who doesn't want Cal fired here and is happy with him as our coach right now.

I can respect the opinion. I think this year will us more.

Is this the typical love triangle? The two bball players and some girl? Another poster stated Davis and Brazille were in a relationship????

Mick Cronin is the next ul coach.

From this area. Loves the horses. Close friend of the admin. Asst at ul under Pitino. Very competitive guy. Very willing to go to war Vs UK.

I said earlier no chance Musselman to Louisville, and I stand by that opinion.

Now, here's a twist, Cronin to Louisville, then Musselman to UCLA. That would be much more likely since he really is a west coast guy.

This seems crazy to me. Muss has won 8 NCAA tourney games the last 3 years… that’s as much as UK in the last several years. UK is still the standard by which SEC programs judge themselves… and he’s outperformed the Cats since being in Fayetteville.

He’s having one of those seasons. He has a couple of key guys hurt, and one is an athletic, game changing freak. He also has an upper class man in Davis that left the team. It appears things are in disarray. Years like this happen. That shouldn’t show him the door necessarily.

I think he will bounce back.

A lot of guys probably will leave but Muss churns through the roster every year so that’s not uncommon, especially with so many upperclassman transfers.

He’s never had to recruit after a terrible season like this though so that may throw a wrench in things.
