When it comes to judging basketball talent, Rick Pitino is lacking big time. Remember these statements from Pitino:

1) Mike Marra is the greatest high school shooter I've seen.
2) Terrance Williams is the next Dominique Wilkins.
3) Juan Palacios is the next Jamal Mashburn.
4) If Jared Prickett developes a jump-shot he could be the next Larry Bird.
5) He even took Sebastian Telfair over Rajon Rondo.

So when Pitino says something stupid, it isn't a surprise.

I rarely critcize Cal over anything and couldn't be happier with his overall performance. I also don't believe in yanking a player for one or two mistakes, unless they're an ongoing problem for that player. That being said Cal does ( somewhat understandably ) gives certain players, usually his star players much more leverage to make mistakes than the ones who rarely get in, and can never find their groove due to him taking him out over one mistake, and I think that that is a big reason players like Hood, and Willis never found their groove on the floor. It's almost impossible if you're worried about one mistake and you're out!

That's the reason Hood and Willis didn't find their groove? C'mon man, there is no KY white boy bias there...

How about all of those better players in front of them? Whose time would you have taken for these to play enough to find their groove?
