Seems to me our bigs dont make much of an effort to get open on the offensive end. It may have to do with the offensive sets they have in place, but its rare to see Poy, Lee, Skal, etc moving in the painted area to establish good low post position.

The offense isn't built for post ups. it built for dribble drives. if they post up they get in the way. They are used as screeners then get lobbed to if the defender bites on the pick. Other than that they don't have roles on offense other than try to get offensive rebounds.

Not even movement to post up, how about cutting through the paint, setting baseline screens for other bigs, movement to clear the lane for the dribble drive. Hell, even movement to get in good offensive rebounding position. If our bigs are only used for screeners, our fans shouldnt complain about their offensive production.

Totally agree no ones cuting threw middle or even posting that's why bigs are not scoring. The lobs are there but there not passing the ball.some of the bigs not scoring is on the guards not passing the ball.

It's on them. If you remember back to when harrelson half assed set pics and moved, our offense was stagnant. Cal called him out a few times and then Jorts started setting haymaker screens and getting position on rebounds.

You don't have to be great like KAT, cousins, Davis ect. It's about effort. Our bigs are out of position because they don't fight for it Calipari or our guards can't make them do it.

Ulis can make them do it. In the end I think Ulis is going to open some whoopass on one or two of them. That'll do it....o_O

I think this is why Ulis is off from three some games. His arm is so tired from waiving his arm up top telling them to move around and get into position. It's gotta be tiresome

This may be more true than any of us would want. Sad really and that is from someone who knows very little about basketball strategy...

I think it is a two fold problem with our bigs. The offense is not designed to dump it into the post player like we did to KAT last year. It requires our athletic bigs to catch it on the move and dribble to their sweet spot. For instance against UL and Bama, we used side pick and rolls to free Alex. The problem is that Alex and Lee don't handle the ball very well past 2 dribbles and can't get to their sweet spot on the floor without turning the ball over. The other issue is eventhough our guards looked great against the zone flashing Briscoe to the high post, we often resort to a 3 man game against zones with Briscoe penetrating with Tyler and Jamal spotting up on the wings. I remember only one time last night where Briscoe faked the ball reversal and dropped it down to Lee for the alley oop. I think we need to look for our bigs early to get them going, which would also allow for more room for Ulis and Murray.

Cal doesnt run offensive sets. If our guys cant beat their man off the dribble it leads to a stagnant, stand around offense. And much of the time we cannot beat the defenders..Cal needs to make some adjustments for this team.. Probably be a good idea to get Humphries some time to prepare for the end of the year. He cant be much worse than what we are getting at center now anyway. We shall see. Cal is pretty stubborn.
