Agreed. However, my opinion is that we don't attempt to be a place that prepares QBs for the NFL. I think we should run more of an RPO/controlled passing offense that utilizes QB runs judiciously. Hardest scheme to defend, imo. If not, get that info from Brad White as to what is the hardest to defend and implement that one. These kids are getting good money. What kills us is that any QB with NFL aspirations will not even look this way. Liam Coen is not here anymore.
Yeah the immediate reaction from many is always NIL because it’s easy and absolves coaches but on offense it’s difficult to find players that have options that would bank on something being different from the track record. These kids are getting good money. Stoops just wants a backup insurance policy for Boley. IMO he will target a lower D1 player.Big bucks! Good pickup, he will do well there.
We have so many needs we can’t afford to go after top portal guys.
Again, this player lost his starting job mid-season. He's shown promise but took a serious step backwards in '24.Great get.
Brohm is rolling. Always seems to get great production out of his QBs.
Cards are back. No surprise it’s a guy who knows offense leading the charge.
502 Circle has done a wonderful job at finding ways to bring in new money.Where is UL getting all this NIL money?
The NIL era may actually make UK’s task of climbing the SEC ladder even harder. Outside of maybe Vandy, I’m guessing every other SEC team will have more to spend in the NIL lottery than UK. Combine that with Kentucky’s lock of HS talent compared to other southern states and UK is at a major disadvantage. At least UL has a bigger city with more business pockets to pull from, and it’s showing.502 Circle has done a wonderful job at finding ways to bring in new money.
Stoops says UK's NIL is the best it's been and adequate for their needs. We should take his word for it.The NIL era may actually make UK’s task of climbing the SEC ladder even harder. Good point. I think their strategy of going after a known commodity at QB where they have lots of tape and can know what to expect is smarter than our strategy of get a highly ranked high school kid who couldn’t see the field in college. We rank 24th on Rivals for quality of 2025 recruits, currently. Louisville sits at 67th.
Quality of transfers? We have brought/bought three QB’s since 2021 that were ranked among the Top three available in the portal, and numerous other respected players.
Our high school recruiting is actually marginally better than pre-NIL. U of L’s is marginally worse. Both programs have had respected transfers.
Bluntly stated, since 2021, NIL appears to have elevated Kentucky recruiting.
Since 2021, we have been missing the victories on the field we’d become accustomed to . . . and that change calls into question our recruiting evaluations.
Vandergriff was the #5 QB in the portal and he was ass, so...UL picks up the USC QB that torched them in their bowl game last year. Not ideal for us.
