Michigan, Kentucky and Florida early leaders

Johnson averaged about 12 points/game per 33 minutes for a horrible Pitt team last year. That translates to about 6 points/game per 17 minutes on a really good UK team.

I agree, he likely won't start nor get starter minutes. Probably the second 3 off the bench, like our Canadian friend last year.

Johnson was only a two star player coming out of high school and only the third leading scorer on a very mediocre Pitt team.

And anyone who would take him over Knox (not that we are getting Knox) is either ill informed or doesn't know basketball.

I disagree entirely about Cam's potential or Cam vs. Knox, but we all can have different opinions.

To me, he is a hard working SOB that has improved exponentially in the last 3 years. I think he can potentially be like a JR Kyle Korver that can play better DEF. Korver was a consensus AA as a SR after leading Creighton to a GREAT team and putting up nearly 15ppg as a JR.

Plus, 3 years experience on a team full of FR would be a godsend, IMO. 6-8", 12ppg, 42% from 3, 82% from FT, Stallings called him his best interior defense as he led his team in steals from the 3. He graduated in 3 years with a 3.9 GPA as a member of the academic AA team.

He has NBA aspirations, but isn't quick enough in scouts eyes to guard the "NBA 2" or big enough to play the 3. He's more than capable of guarding the 2-5 in college. Whichever coach can convince him he can improve him in that area and market him enough to get him into the NBA will get him. I think that'll be Cal.

There's a reason 16 schools reached out almost right away. He is one of the best grad transfers, probably the best shooter, out of them all.

I think the 3 is his at Kentucky next year due to shooting, experience, DEF, and basketball IQ. A SL of Green, Diallo, Johnson, Vanderbilt, and Bamba from day 1 with one of the greatest benches assembled in history would be such an exciting season to follow!

I feel like we are spoiled by the great FR we have had here at UK that we think that even a player like Knox is a better choice than someone with 3 years experience that shoots like Kyle Korver on a team in UK that needs shooting and has almost no experience.

We can all have our opinions. If Cam is a Cat, I hope I am right. If Cam goes elsewhere, I hope I am way off and either Mark Smith or Kevin Knox make Cam look like a slower Willis that plays horrible DEF! HA HA!

Cam was only the third leading scorer on a Pitt team that had a losing season. Yes, they are in the overhyped ACC, finishing next to last at 4-14.

Looking at the roosters of comparable bad SEC teams, his stats are only slightly better than Missouri's Kevin Puryear or LSU's Jordan Sampson. Would you be excited to have them transfer to Kentucky and start?

If he comes to U.K. I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't believe anyone starts at the 3 over Vanderbilt (3 is his natural position) unless we sign Knox.

If Johnson comes to U.K., I predict he will play more with Brad than Green.

Vanderbilt 6'9 2/3/4
Washington 6'7 2/3/4
Gabriel 6'9 3/4
Diallo 6'5 2/3

Those are essentially the 4 guys he'd be competing with, and to be quite honest I see 3 of them that we won't ever want to take off floor (Vanderbilt, Washington, Diallo). Of course that doesn't make me want Johnson any less.

I agree, Johnson is such a good shooter you can't not like him. You can't put a premium on shooters.

Florida just secured a commitment from Egor Koulechov a 47% shooter from 3pt range, so there may not be room for Johnson depending on what Egbunu does.

Johnson is looking more and more likely to be a Cat. I can't wait to see the overall reaction to his game. He is much more than a good shooter on a bad team. MUCH more. Vanderbilt is so talented that I could see both him and Cam starting with Green, Diallo, and Bamba due to Cal's positionless pitch. Cam will have quite the upper leg on Vanderbilt from day 1. 3 yrs Exp, Graduated in 3 yrs, academic AA, 3.9 GPA, Basketball IQ OFF the charts and a complete Assassin from 3.

But, I can't convince you or anyone else of that. He will once he gets on campus.

All in my completely worthless opinion as always.

Big land for Florida.
This maybe takes Gators out of the Cam contest. They are full, though Egbunu status very up in the air.
