Michael Porter Jr.

I could see Porter and young at KU because they're likely to have a ton of playing time available in the back court after next season.

Mason, Graham, Selden, Greene will all be seniors next season.

That said, as others have mentioned Porter has strong ties to 2 other programs. I keep reading Washington is the favorite for Porter. I think Young is open.

He and young play for MOKAN Elite on the AAU circuit which is the same team that Cauley-Stein played for, so there is that.

Porter, though, has also grown fond of Bill Self and Kansas, and he plans to be at Allen Fieldhouse for KU’s “Late Night in the Phog” in October.

“I love Coach Self,” Michael says.

All of this is to say the obvious: When you combine a once-in-a-decade talent, a close-knit family and the Border War, you get one of the most interesting college basketball recruitment stories in recent memory — at least as far as Kansas City is concerned.

For now, it’s just beginning.

“It’s not really a factor,” Michael says, when asked about his family’s Missouri ties. “I’m not pressured to go to Mizzou or not go to Kansas. By my family, at least. By the people in the town, of course I am. But living near Mizzou doesn’t really affect going to Kansas.”

You never know. We were told for the last year that Monks ties to Arkansas would likely keep him home and we saw how that ended.

relax Francis. and cal does not get every recruit he puts time in on. do you want those names from guys that we're supposed locks for UK last year but went somewhere else. do not become a arrogant prick because we are on top right now. we could be on the bottom just as fast.
Well, no - we couldn't. The worst class he's had here is second in the country.

Does that mean we get everybody? No. I don't know that anybody is saying that Cal can get every single player he wants. What they're saying is that it's stupid to say that any kid is 100% out of Cal's grasp. And that's true.

Not sure we were ever really a candidate for Monk and Kentucky can thank his brother, Marcus, otherwise Malik would be playing at Arkansas next year.

Fox is another situation all together. Seems he wanted to play for Kentucky all along. Didn't matter we had offered and been on him longer and were the early favorites, once Kentucky offered we were an afterthought.

Porter/Young are a different animal. Porter has a Kentucky offer and the consensus is that KU still leads. Still way too early to call on this one. I know Young likes KU, but to me he seems to also like Duke and Kentucky, so no clue on him. If they are a package deal, all three big boys are recruiting both.
I know the Arkansas fans thought Monk was going to Arkansas - but the Kentucky people thought Monk was a lock for the last two years. Isn't recruiting interesting - its viewed quite differently from where one sits. UK also thought they had Wiggins locked up, and he ends up at Kansas - so none of us ever really know. The one thing I know - never bet against Cal - but he doesn't get them all!

Go Big Blue!

I would be very surprised if Young didn't end up at UK. As for Porter there is no buzz for UK.

what? are you serious? that guy was making it out like if cal wants him he will have him. I was pointing out how stupid and arrogant it was to think cal is a 100% on every recruit.

of course cal gets his picks but he also misses. lucklesy we have a lot of young talent to pick from. and yes it's stupid to think or expect cal to land every recruit he goes after, lol some of you are headed for a great, fall at some point

I'm just elated that Cal is getting an early start on 2017 recruiting since we will likely have 7 open scholarships....

Im glad the Kansas fan let us know they are the leader. My confident just went up about 25% for this guy. Keep the updates coming, Jayhawks

Yeah, no, you just can't read. He said exactly what he meant like 3 different times.. He said If cal wants him we have a shot. He didn't claim once that if cal wants him he's ours.

So you're wrong there, and you're also wrong about the just as easily on bottom as on top thing, as I've already pointed out.

You do realize the whole brother story was put out to take some of the heat off of Malik , right . Ronnie Brewer who is very close to the situation has said as much .

jkwo like I said Cal has a better chance then most just by walking in the door. and the impression the guy gave was if Cal wants he will get. my point is Cal does not get all so acting like a arrogant a&& is silly.

and if you think we couldn't go from the best to the worst in a blink of a eye then your delusional. as many people out there living for the day UK and Cal slip up, it wouldn't take much for the outsiders to blow anything UK out of proportion and take joy in watching us tumble down the top of the mountain to the bottom.

so guess I'm saying show some class and act like you have been here before. coming out in all caps with your chest popped out and chin up because we get great recruiting classes TODAY just sets you up for a swift kick in the but when someday you don't. no Cal and UK do not get every recruit we want first, so to act like we are the Shi$$$ and do looks childish. that's how IU would act after a few good recruiting classes, if that ever happens again.

Do we have a shot with the young man ? of course. is there obstacles Cal may not be able to overcome? yes. will Cal pull his efforts and focus on another big for that class if it's clear the kid has other aspirations? yes. all I'm saying is I'm thankful cal and UK are in the position we are today in recruiting. do I take it for granted and act like a arrogant jerk ? no.

Definitely my favorite Christmas Present this year is watching Kansas fans getting all excited about recruiting. The gift that keeps on giving!

That's funny...I think I have seen a thread about the annual UK meltdown when someone else recruiting class is named number one.

That's funny... You're Kentucky's bitch in almost every fathomable way. You can't beat Cal, You can't advance in the tournament, You can't stay eligible, You can't get the recruits you want. Jesus, you have to live vicariously through another school's recruiting class? How pathetic is that?

Kick rocks.

@RC_Texas was no where to be seen after his team choked against Mich St. All of a sudden they put together a small winning streak and he's prolific again on this board.

I'll ask this question again and again until the end of time. Why do Rival fans feel the need to come to this forum? You know how many other teams forums I belong to? Zero. Because they don't need to hear my jaded thoughts on their program. They aren't buying what I'm selling. There's no need.

Yet here we are.. there's always a few Kansas fans who just won't stop tugging at our pant legs.. still throwing shade.. but begging to be accepted.
