Was hiring back Wolford. I know it’s southern miss. But anyone remember how bad we looked against Miami-Ohio? O-line was looking crisp. Saban wanted him for a reason.

I think it's an upgrade, but Wolford was put on blast the way he left last time but his coaching style and substitution pattern was vastly different to John Schlarman and honestly it hasn't been the Big Blue Wall since Schlarman passed. Wolford is a good recruiter (so we're told) and he may really be a good O-line coach. Yenser wasn't and the play dropped off definitely with him coaching O-line but Wolford hasn't come close to filling Schlarman's shoes yet.

Wolf was hired again... That's the best I can say about him. He underperformed at Alabama with more five stars than the Rivals top 50, so I'm not sure why Stoops went back to him.

Our pass blocking still isn't worth a damn. Run blocking has improved.

Maybe it's just a curse of Kentucky football, but I can't remember a single year under Stoops where our pass blocking was better than low-mid SEC level. Maybe it's too much to expect Wolf to figure that out.

Oh well. Hopefully we figure it out this year before he pops for Ohio State and recruits our guys there with him.

We're finally getting back to physical football and getting away from the nfl wide zone.

Wolf is an ok coach but a dynamite recruiter. Unfortunately he'll probably leave again first opportunity.

6.2 yards per carry for the rush game.

300 yards, 31 points and we didn't play half the 3rd quarter...and all the 4th quarter.

I was more than happy with how the Oline played. Wolf is eons better than Yenser.

Not sure about 'OL was awful at pass blocking' - Brock seemed to have time to throw pretty often. He was good about extending plays, stepping up/out in the pocket, rolling out and still looking downfield. I was very pleased with OL performance. Wolford may not be the coach that Schlar was but he's renowed as a great recruiter. Think he'll prove to be a big step up over Yenser. And, 'Alabama's OL underperformed all year'? The same Bama that made the CFP playoffs? With a poorly performing OL? I don't think so. Maybe didn't dominate every single game but they did fine, imo.

Yeah we have to fix the pass blocking. Brock make most of his plays out of the locker on the run. In the pocket had too many guys in his face from a so so team

How many false starts?

Yeah only 2 1/2 quarters, but I saw a well coached O line. We might not have the talent anymore like we used too. Avg fans dont recognize the massive massive recruiting misses at O line over the last 4 yrs. Before that we had 1 or 2 starters who were NFL quality. We shouldn't have to depend on cast offs from Florida & Tennessee to fill out a starting 5.

but at least Wolf has this group playing where they don't beat themselves IMO.

There were several instances where a block was missed on the edge. And I don't just mean that someone wasn't assigned that lineman. I mean a Sunbelt team had ends outrun or beat our tackles. Then there were several plays where defensive linemen just completely came clean. Lines need time to gel. I get that, but to have Southern Miss dudes in an SEC backfield as often as they were isn't something I like to see.

I will say I'm incredibly happy with the lack of penalties and the run blocking so far. That's fair praise.

He may have been a dynamite recruiter at Bama but there was multiple draws there that had nothing to do with him. He hasn’t shown that he is a dynamite recruiter at UK. He gets credit for DW and he got UK in the door but it was his relationship with Stewart that sealed the deal and has kept him at UK. He hasn’t been able to get a quality LT to UK. Hopefully he changes that quickly

Replacing the inept receivers coach was equally as important. And both these guys were Coen picks . Amazing that some wanted him if as our coach if Stoops had left .

I agree. Woodward sucked. I remember Brown and Key said the new coach was “hard” on them. Can’t remember ever hearing that about Woodward.

This for sure. The transfer wrs are way more technically sound than either brown or key although key is the much better technician of those latter two.

They probably don't realize it but they were cheated out of development because we were too afraid to make guys coach them instead of coddle and they were too coddled to accept it.

I would love to see a breakdown of how many 5* make it to pros by position. It seems like OL is one of the worst, probably because these guys are matchup nightmare for high school kids but are more evenly matched in college. Lots of 2 and 3* OL turn out to be pros
