Trump does bear some responsibility. He spent weeks calling it a Democrat hoax, that it would be gone when the weather warms up, that it won't come back worse in the Fall, that we should not wear masks etc.
He was 100 percent wrong on all accounts. Unfortunately, some people were actually listening to his stupidity.
It is their own fault to some extent, but we have never had a President so blatantly lie to the American people about health issues before.

The left has misused the word fascist on purpose. For the record, political scientist (liberal political scientist) DONT use it much. True fascism has never been seen in America. Joe Biden was not a great choice either but I had to choose between dementia and un-democratic dictator. I went with dementia and pray the intelligent people around Biden will run the country in a fitting manor. If not, we will vote again four years from now. I expect Biden/Harris will at least respect our democracy.
Trump's un-democratic actions and erratic behaviors have done more for China in the long run than any President before him. The US is not seen as a stable democracy by the rest of the world today and that is worse than anything Biden could ever due with trade policy.
Serious question, it doesn’t concern you at all the precedent that these baseless legal challenges set? I’m not debating the legality of it. But I will assert how unpatriotic and anti-democratic the challenges are. Yes, it’s nothing more than a hilariously inept attempt to overturn an election. But when you really think about, there’s nothing at all funny about it. These 100+ Representatives are showing that they would gladly choose fascism over democracy, if it meant more power for them and their party. I know they aren’t actively pursuing fascism, but that is the can of worms they are trying to open with their actions.
The Republican Party from the outside looking in, looks like a party that is desperately holding onto power that is slipping away because the majority of Americans reject their way of thinking. Their desperation is starting to become dangerous. Fascism doesn’t happen overnight. It starts by slowly wearing away at our ideals. The Republican Party continues to move further away from what Americans want, despite losing popularity. We can keep waiting for a shift where both parties move back towards the middle, but I’m not really seeing that happen. I’ll choose the side that is fighting for progress and equality and not the side that is running scared and playing the victim. I’ll let the chips fall where they may.

One of the biggest failures has been the courts not sanctioning these lawyers that are presenting clearly frivolous cases. As long as there are no repercussions then they'll just keep filing.

I was in the military during Vietnam and even in those turbulent times I did not speak out against President Johnson while on active duty. Even though his policies were getting the best of our youth killed or wounded in a war no politician wanted to win.
