It was on his show today. He also said it was just his gut feeling, not any scoop or scuttlebutt. FWIW, the other three guys on the show all thought he'd still be the coach as of next Friday.

We can all only hope that Matt's gut feeling is correct.

Let’s hope so but I do believe he doesn’t know, just what he feels to be the right move, as do most of us.

Cal will still be here. There will be a restructuring of assistant coaches to add offensive and defensive coordinators. One of the current assistants may be let go but that'll be the extent of it.

The University will see this as a favorable move to be fiscally responsible. They'd much rather spend 1-2 million instead of forking over 33 million, regardless of how many yrs the money can be paid out.
Yes, I realize something similar has already been done but it's the only move to save face for both Barney and Cal.
