I use torvik myself but I saw that Casey kid on Twitter say he is like the 93 percentile in catch and shoot 3s which is very goodYou deserve it, my bro. I find you to be a very misunderstood poster sometimes.
Should I be using Torvik or some other webpage to view the analytics that people are raving about? I’m genuinely clueless
Yates is my guessI went through that Crown tournament. The talent is really poor. Kam Williams being on Tulane(in the tourney) could’ve been who he meant when he got the information.
Only players worthy of consideration imo:
Wesley Yates-USC(edited to add Brooks recruited him out of HS)
Moustapha Thiam- UCF
Keyshawn Hall- UCF(already in the portal)
Michael Rataj- OSU (already in portal)
I don't know if those games were consecutive but that's 19.7 ppg again elite competition. Those are star numbers and folks talking about him like he's a scrub. Pope coached against this guy so I'm sure he knows what kind of player he's recruiting. He REALLY came on late in the year.
15 against Gonzaga
24 against Oklahoma
15 against Vandy
26 against Texas
21 against Florida
18 against Auburn
16 against Mizzou
19 against Tex A&M
23 against Miss State
ALL of those games occurred AFTER Feb 8th. Scored double figures in 10 straight to close out the year.
So that would imply Bruce Thornton is entering the portal
I don’t think he really meant superstar but a really good player/person that fits his system. He just threw that out there to make us feel good.Pope needs to get those superstar portal players he said he was going to get. The guys from Tulane and Georgia sure don't fit that.
Meant to quote Bookerfan
Smith not more than average as a defender. At the risk of being banned again, it’s my observation that white point guards who can turn their man are few and far between. He’s a great assist man but I’d be looking for someone who can do both. Ziegler for UT a good example tho I’d prefer a taller variety.I trust Pope's judgment. I think that he values perimeter defense now that we had to suffer through a season of limited ball penetration defense.
You get this kid and Smith to close out the perimeter.
Pg is not most urgentGetting a superstar doesn’t mean the SS will be a PG. I’d absolutely prefer a superstar PG, but there’s more than one way to do this in Popes offense
Yep. We really need a guy who can rebound. This season our bigs were terrible at going after the ball.most important is finding frontcourt players that can rebound and defend well with solid physicality
The worst scenario for backcourt is using Jasper as pg1, this is not that bad. But if we do not have solid frontcourt, we will definitely fail next year
We definitely need huge update for frontcourt next year
He is only in year 2According to Evan Miya, better defensively than offensively. Adequate 3-point shooter. Not Lamont Butler on D, but adequate. Not a true point guard but can play there.
Maybe a Kerr/depth addition? He wouldn’t be my first option either
Maybe a Kerr/depth addition?
Wilkerson is the star scorer I want. Would be a great Robinson replacementGetting a superstar doesn’t mean the SS will be a PG. I’d absolutely prefer a superstar PG, but there’s more than one way to do this in Popes offense
Just let Pope get who he has seen play and who he wants. That is unless you know more than the coach who is responsible for the team.Guess we are all on the “smith” lookout for the next few days or weeks but I can’t say this young man from Georgia would give me a lot of confidence going in to next year at the point.
On smith lookout?
Did Thornton for Ohio st enter? I see his name in other messages, but idk if he has?
Do we go all in for Thomas???
Or is this guy a fall back in case the others I’ve mentioned are misses for us?
Also add passing skills to rebound and defense on the front court playermost important is finding frontcourt players that can rebound and defend well with solid physicality

Defense and rebound should be focused more, passing is bonus...Also add passing skills to rebound and defense on the front court player
Passing is not bonus in this offense. Won’t work without it. @jace2012 is rightDefense and rebound should be focused more, passing is bonus...
It is very hard to find a physical frontcourt guy good at both rebounding and passing...Passing is not bonus in this offense. Won’t work without it. @jace2012 is right
That’s why Pope makes the big bucks. That’s what he will have to findIt is very hard to find a physical frontcourt guy good at both rebounding and passing...
This type of guy usually has nba prospect...
This type of guy is more likely to come from high school recruits than portal. When you can pass as well as rebound and defend, you will definitely be selected in NBA... (I do not say HS recruits will become this type of player in year 1, but could become in later years)That’s why Pope makes the big bucks. That’s what he will have to find
Not a point guard but UK has reached out to Abdi Basher of Manmouth.
This is not cal university anymore we build from within. We need glass cleaners alot more than 6ft3 guards what the hell are you thinking2 freshmen, a player that didn't play much at all, Oweh who played SF the majority of the year, Williams was the center, and a player that played 9 games
What on earth are you talking about "over recruiting"
Pope got Amari Williams and Garrison last year. Now, maybe Pope is okay with BG/MM at that spot and doesn’t go get someone, we will see. But if he gets a 5 that can’t pass, it will be very difficult to run a working 5 out attack predicated on heavy zoom action. Worst case scenario you find a unicorn in EuropeThis type of guy is more likely to come from high school recruits than portal. It is likely portal has almost zero this type of player
I would love to get Gwath as stretch 5 and Alvaro Folguerias as stretch 4. Gotta get some of these done before April 7thPg is not most urgent
PF/c are more urgent
We lose not because of guard, we lose because frontcourt players can not rebound....
Will see how pope deals with frontcourt recruitingPope got Amari Williams and Garrison last year. Now, maybe Pope is okay with BG/MM at that spot and doesn’t go get someone, we will see. You said it. We are no longer just going to get "the dudes" like Cal got. Glad he's gone but at the same time, who was it said, "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Forget who said that. This is not cal university anymore we build from within. We need glass cleaners alot more than 6ft3 guards what the hell are you thinking
