If we, as expected, lose a bunch in the portal and our recruiting class falls completely apart (which it appears it may be doing), how low will this go? Are we looking at 1 or 2 wins next year with a bunch of blowouts? UKFB is not anything like UKBB when it comes to appealing to a transfer. We won't 'reload' through the portal in this atmosphere. I mean, are we really gonna hit the very lowest low this program has seen, maybe lower than Joker's last year? Hard to believe the program would disintegrate so quickly (I guess look no further than FSU, though). But, the past several recruiting classes have not been 'recruit and develop', they've been stopgap/plugging holes and go to the portal. I don't know how to fix it and I doubt Stoops does, either.

Honestly, having suffered for most of my 50+ years watching bad UK football teams play, if we sink really, really low again, I don't know if I can muster enough enthusiasm to even watch them flounder around and get drilled week after week. I'm pretty demoralized by this season, by what I anticipate happening this offseason and looking at next season which, if we're fortunate, may net another 4 wins. My patience and willingness to be fired up for FB season is waning badly at the moment.

Need to give it a little time and let the story unfold. We should have an idea where this is going in a week or two.

That's where we are. Stoops needs to be sold on being the worst guy in UK history or stepping down. If he wants the money then I'd make him show up to an empty stadium next year and lost by 50 every game and become an absolute joke. Lets put that to him.

Yes the potential is there for this go go south in a hurry. How many we lose to the portal and how many of the incoming class flips could be a big number. We always have coaching turnover that doesn't work out well. Areturn to the Joker days is a real possibility

Get ugly? We are well past that my friend. Well past.
Truth. We already look like Wanda, not sure how much uglier we can get.

You're right - it's very early. It's also trending on a pretty steep downward trajectory right now. Hope that trend reverses itself very soon. I can't take many more 55-10 and 63-7 whippings.
That starts happening again then we’re gonna lose a lot of the older fanbase that stayed loyal and suffered through all those years. Personally, I’d have a hard time trying to maintain interest if we sink that low.

Per his own comments, Stoops is going to hit the portal for G5 starters. Which means he’s going to try to take MAC level talent to compete in the SEC.

Unless he’s getting the absolute best of that level, we’re going to be a MAC level team the next few years.

Bump

It's getting ugly as Stuart and Silver have announced their transfer and Maclin, Brown rumored to be out the door, also. We may have to rebuild a significant portion of the roster this offseason with basically MAC players. That bodes well for 2025.
It doesn’t really matter. Next year will be a 💩show no matter what. We got our brains beat in with a bunch of 4 star players and now Stoops thinks if we replace them with MAC players then we’ll compete better. Our offense is below MAC level anyway so who cares.

If Mark Stoops returns, we don’t have a football program as far as I’m concerned. I won’t watch a single snap.
I’m right there with you I did this crap for 4 years too long with the basketball program. I’m not doing it again with the football program. I honestly will be glad when Mitch retires.

Silver is a massive loss. Hes the actual anchor everyone thought deonne was. If we dont get him back, it will hurt.

Totally agree. Anwar Stewart sucks as a d line coach Stoops needs to man up and resign. Mitch you really screwed the pooch here and you got lucky with Cal. But Cal left at least 5 years too late as far as I am concerned. Nip this shit in the bud.

I think hes fine. I think he hasn't been given tons of talent. Deonne is gifted but isn't getting coached because the staff is scared of him.

Watching us play in the SEC is pretty much like watching our three cupcake wins against us. Our offense is twenty years behind the times. Every once in a while we will complete a pass for a first down, but most of the time it is watching a scrambling QB throwing incomplete passes. We started out running the ball well against UofL but somehow even that was over after the first series. We were back to the Curry and Joker era this year. I left Mumme out because at least we were entertaining in the first Lorenzen year and we also had hope for the next year.

Surprisingly to me, we pretty much kept the recruiting class intact. Lost the RB and Kattus (who I wasn't really that excited about), flipped the WR from WI.

But, Anderson, Silver and Key are pieces we'll miss a lot. I thought Anderson had a lot of potential but didn't see much action this year. Still really young, though, and had the tools to be a solid TE. Key was really good the first 7-8 games and then we stopped throwing to him so much. Had a couple of games where he basically disappeared - maybe not his fault. Silver played a lot of snaps and was a big body there in the middle. Can't just plug and play at that position.
