Mack Brown out at UNC

Tough one. Tough to tell a guy that has done so much for the program through the years that we no longer want you. But it seems like its time to let go there.

I'm sure this has beeen discussed but didn't Stoops talks with A&M and their HC job violate his contract or did Mitch know about A&M reaching out the proper way?

that is what I wondered......
seems like the same thing that got rid of ccc

Sumrall's going to be the hottest name in the coaching carousel this offseason. There's zero chance he's waiting around for Stoops to waddle off into semi-retirement. We might as well accept it.

They’re probably targeting Sumrall.

Anyone ever wonder who Stoop's agent is? I did so I looked it up. His name is Jimmy Sexton and I am not the least bit surprised that he ate Barnhart's breakfast, lunch, dinner, and night cap. That dude is serious. It boggles my mind how Stoops landed such a whale.

Jimmy Sexton has eaten alot of AD'S hearts, all of them he has negotiated with. I think every big name coach uses him.

If only UNC could come offer Stoops about $7+ mil/year for 6 or so years with some incentives to get over his current buyout number. Sounds like a good job for Sexton. 🙏

I don’t think Mitch has the same clause for stoops. Cal was flirting with the nba and college rumors every off season before the big UCLA contract. My assumption is that is how that clause ended up there.

If the same clause existed then I’m sure Stoops probably informed Mitch prior to conversation and followed protocol. He isn’t a slime ball like Cal

Sumrall on several lists of possible UNC replacements. If not UNC, some other school will lock him up this year. I actually saw one list with Joker as a candidate lol.

I don’t think Sumerall would go to UNC. Yes, they are basketball school like Kentucky but it’s not a great conference so I think recruiting there would be a little more challenging. Look at Mack Brown. He had one great year and only won like one bowl game in his time there.

However, Stoops would be a good fit for UNC because of all those reasons. Take a small pay cut but, win 6-7 games easily each year in a less competitive conference. He would have a much better chance of making it to to the conference championship there than in the SEC. It wouldn’t shock me to see Stoops go to UNC

Stoops communicated with A&M with the dept’s knowledge so it wouldn’t be a breach.

Lol keep on dreaming.

I don’t see Sumrall going to UNC. He knows if he sits at Tulane one more year he may have his picking between multiple SEC openings.

The flip side is that if he doesn’t take a job now, he’s risking having a worse year at Tulane next year and then maybe he wouldn’t get the same job opportunities. But I think that’s very unlikely. You could also argue it would be much easier for him to make the playoff at UNC than in the SEC, given the difference in competition.
