#2 or #3 team in the SEC...may lose to the 13th or 14th SEC team. Embarrassing. I hope they pull it out, but geez. This is pathetic.

This is why the SEC won't get 5-6 teams in the tournament. They need to win some road SEC games to get in and if they can't beat Missouri, then they're going to go something like 10-8 and be left out. Oh well, same as every year.

I showed the league a lot of respect predicting 4 teams...I'l stick with that for now, but early on, it appears to be UK, Arkansas and...uh...uh. Yeah.

LSU losing to Missouri.
SC losing to 7-6 FL
UGA losing a HUGE home game against Ark. (That said, probably the most forgivable of the 3 losses).

This. And it makes me so mad how everyone comes to Rupp and looks like world beaters. If they can do it at Rupp, they can do it elsewhere in the league. The question is, why don't they? Yeah, yeah, football conference. But the players should care. The players should have higher expectations.

I agree but UK is UK and everyone else isn't.

For people confused about the argument. It's not that SEC sucks, it's that the REST of the SEC sucks. LSU and Georgia are not going to be any good. we make it fifth ranked conference according to sagarin. Without us, those other teams rank amongst the MEAC.

This has been my thought as I have watched the basketball season unfold.SEC teams will cut each other to ribbons.Every team will play above their head when the schedule says Kentucky but will go thru the motions when they play everyone else.Every team (not named Kentucky )will probably have at least 5 SEC losses.Ark might get away with 4 but that is iffy

But they have clearly shown that they can compete. WHY don't they try to do so outside of Rupp? Or I should ask, why do they so rarely do outside of Rupp? Florida gets a pass, they do, they're just down this year and might still bring something.

I almost started a similar thread yesterday. If these teams other teams the way that they do UK the S.E.C would have alot more success. Plenty of other teams with similar talent have plenty of success against good teams in other confrences.

LSU played terrible tonight and then Missouri almost let LSU pull it out in OT. I really thought Missouri would be a better team than they have showed this year in Non-Conference. Watched Texas A&M vs. Bama and hopefully they continue to shoot Saturday like they have been in last few games. Texas A&M leading scorer this year at 14ppg and 16ppg in last 5 games Jalen Jones was out with Sprained ankle and they don't know if he can play Saturday.

The A&M offense was terrible vs. Bama on Tuesday being beaten by 21 points. I thought that game would have been closer on Tuesday between Bama and A&M. I have read on few sites that Jones was day to day with his Ankle Sprain. Does anyone on here know if Jalen Jones is out for Texas A&M on Saturday?

No clue, but hope he plays. We need teams at full strength for the toughest games possible...although I do not feel this game will be that tough regardless. I think the Ole Miss game outcome saw to that. I expect a much more focused UK team this weekend.

The only good thing I will say for LSU is that they are still 11-3, have that great win over WVU, and they have a game against UGA this weekend in Baton Rouge that would be a good "canceling out" of tonight's abomination of a performance. They are probably ok long term as long as they finish with a 12-6 or maybe 11-7 SEC record due to their strong OOC record. That said, unacceptable loss tonight IMO. That is the type of loss we expect from other teams in conference play, when they need to step up and do well overall.

I still think that only 3 SEC teams make the Big Dance. After UK it is hard to even pick the other two.

Losing a road game in the SEC is not embarrassing IMO. I think we'll get 5. Despite their record I've not written Florida off. It would not surprise me to see them finish 2nd. Certainly not going to predict that, but think it's possible. I also like Arkansas, Alabama, and yes SC even after their home loss to Florida. I think the SEC is more competitive than a lot of people realize. Consider that after this weekend and all of 2 conference game it's likely there will only be 4 teams without a loss. And that's assuming we win. After Tuesday night I'm feeling a bit nervous about this game. On the road in the SEC has arguably been Cal's weakness is his tenure at UK. A couple of his teams, including the 2011 one which made the Final 4 have posted losing records in the SEC on the road. The platoon system is pretty much out the window, and we're quickly becoming an 8 man team. Nothing wrong with that, but it does mean more guys are going to have to play more minutes, and if they are having a poor night we could be vulnerable.

And meanwhile.. the bi12 has been bending over to Kansas for a decade. It's like the exact opposite of Rupp.. these teams go to phog and just crap their pants.

Do you have connections to Monroe County?
Actually I do. I worked as a percussion instructor with the MCHS band for a few years.

There are far too many bad coaches in the SEC. There's no way LSU should've lost to a pathetic Missouri team even on the road. They made mistake after mistake in that game. It's obvious they're poorly coached.

Great post but i will say IMO this year losing at Mizzou for a team as good as LSU is embarrassing . Now losing at UT or Vandy or LSU isn't but you can't lose to teams like Mizzou or Miss st much this year and expect to get into the dance . I think when the next bracket predictions come out LSU will have dropped to a 10 seed or so but LSU ,Arkansas and UK will be in without trying really IMO as both are off to such good starts and even when they have lost it has to be good teams ( well before last night) . but the last 2 spots are going to be a dogfight between 5-6 teams . my prediction is UGA and USC but could see Ole miss maybe making it over USC .

Bingo. Been the problem in the SEC for years. Talent has never been the problem.

I think only one or two teams (other than UK) can take a hit like LSU did last night and make the NCAAT. SEC teams that are in the hunt to get to the NCAAT can't lose to the Miss St,Mizzou,Aub and maybe TAM type teams. That is why the SEC will have a tough time getting more than three teams in the tourney. We are one game into the SEC regular season and this everybody beats everybody stuff is already in full swing.

the SEC will be a bloodbath,UK will escape with only minor injuries(if any)but everyone else will be sliced and diced to mincemeat

Ark has a great chance to seperate themselves from the rest of the SEC(not counting UK) in the next 4 games.ALa,USC Ga and LSU could be basically done after the next 4
