Too bad this Super Regional couldn't be played at this stadium. The capacity is 13, 130,where Jim Patterson Stadium has a capacity of 4,000. The record crowd for JPS is 6,100, and would likely be broken this weekend.
I know UofL would lose the home field, on campus advantage, but what a series that would be at LSF. That could/would be a sell out for all 3 games, and would put baseball in the Commonwealth at an all time high.

Heard a lot of talk about should the UofL - UK series move to Louisville Slugger Field.... Bats are home this weekend.... end of discussion
This was just a ' What if ' thread. Don't blame the Cards for not wanting to move the games to LSF, if the scenario were reversed, UK wouldn't want to move the games to Whitaker Bank Ballpark, capacity 7,000 either.
Just thinking that, what a venue LSF would bring to the SR, and record breaking attendance for the 2, possibly 3 game series !

I have a couple buddies who are your card carrying rotisserrie league participant baseball fans who always suggest Slugger Field for a big game and my first response to them is always "You haven't been to Jim Patterson have you?" It would be like the Red Sox moving a game to Foxboro for an additional 30,000 seats.

You lose your home field advantage when you play on a different field. The playing surface is different, the mound is different, the positioning of the bullpens. Both Jim Patterson and Slugger Field would be considered to be pitcher's parks for the home teams that play in them but that's probably where the similarities end.

I suspect moving to the pro field would entail more costs than the extra revenue could justify

That could have easily been rectified...we play games at noon Bats play at 7pm....next excuse...i will be waiting

NCAA rules require tournament games be played at an on campus facility unless pre-approved by the NCAA baseball committee. As part of the site selection process, schools interested in hosting must submit a bid to the NCAA do so. May 19 was the final day to submit a bid.

Peace

As the OP of this particular thread, this is simply a ' Hypothetical ' post. I know that UofL wouldn't move the Super Regional any more than UK would.
My view is that with interest in College Baseball in Kentucky at an all time high, what with the 2 ' Big boys ' squaring off, and some one having a Crystal Ball some 6,7 weeks ago, that this would have been a GOLDEN opportunity to have this Super Regional in a large venue with 14,000 rabid fans of both schools watching an epic event in the Commonwealth !

That is the only reason why Stanford got it and not UK. And who does Stanford play this weekend? Oh that's right. They don't.
Meh. We had an opportunity to earn our way in. Beat Florida 1 out of the last 2 games or get to the SEC Tourney Final and I think we'd have gotten it.

So, please tell me once again what Stanford did in to get in over UK when every pundit I watched said we should have gotten the national seed? If you check the #'s it's made no sense except for Stanford to get the nod.

I'm guessing UK fell victim to the 'Well, we have too many SEC schools with top seeds already. Lets give this one to the west coast team'. We saw how well that worked for 'The Cardinal'.

As for the series I think it is awesome both schools are putting out the baseball programs they are, especially with each lacking history (Louisville has been great the past decade-ish tho but before that they were nothing). Interest across Kentucky in college baseball in June.

Whudathunk it
