Well like I said, I was very young when he coached. And the back door dealings of NCAA athletics doesn't exactly appeal to the mind of a 10 year old.?!! Classy program?! You serious.
Before Crum came, most Uk fans would cheer for Uofl. My dad and his friends, all UK fans, would go watch them all the time.
Crum is the one, when he came, to try and make it a "black/white" school thing. He got them on probation twice and nearly gave them the death penalty.
Naw, don't let the "aw shucks" grandpa routine he has now fool ya.
My only interaction with him was when I got to be a ball boy for a U of L game. After the game I took the ball my parents bought for me and asked the lady outside their lockerroom if a couple guys on the team could sign it.
She said she would ask the coach and let me know. She came back out and handed me the ball. All of the coaches (including Crum) signed it and all of the players too. She said she told the coach a little boy wanted the ball signed by a few players and that he made the whole team sign it. I didn't like U of L the way I love(d) UK but he still went out of his way, interrupted his post game lockerrroom, to make my day.
I don't know the things he did that were bad. But I'm sure it's nothing akin to soliciting sex to underage minors. There's cheating the rules set by the NCAA, which is bad, but cheating the rules of basic human morality is way worse.
