If you are talking about a bubble team, I agree. We need nerd numbers on our side. When you are talking about a number 1 seed they matter little, if at all. There's little difference between a 2 and 3 seed either. What you don't want to be is a 4 seed. Then you have to play the 1 in the sweet sixteen. But Cal has shown that he can take out the 1 in that case. Even the overall number 1.
Those nerd numbers matter to people like Bias, Dikes, dookie V, matt jones, etc. Gives then something to blather on about. When they aren't talking about +- or Ken PomPom.
None of those analytics take into account how hard every team gets up to play against UK. Especially SEC teams. It's the only game on their schedule. You see it when you watch the games. You don't see it when you read nerd numbers.
So we get under seeded, we just win anyway. Cal has more wins against higher seeded teams than any coach in the country over his time here.
But that's an analytic the CHC ignores. They cherry pick to an agenda.
They fell to 61. I've never seen that big a drop.

Yes it matters. But seeing as how there ain’t a damn thing we can do about it, I don’t get the constant hand-wringing about quad this and quad that.
That was such a good quality win too. How does a team that returned a lot of their players from a final four run suck this bad?
The good news is that if we keep winning like we are, the Quad stuff won't matter much for the 1/2-seeds. We won't drop a seed line because we lost a Quad1 win. We will stay where we are because we only have say 5 losses, and a team like MSU, no matter what the metrics say about them, can't get past us because they have 7 or 8 losses. I think the Metrics do get thrown out the door at that stage because you simply can't ignore a team that has only 5 losses, regardless of who they played.
The problem is when your team is in that 5, 6, 7 and 8 range. Where there's a lot of jockeying going on. If you don't have the resume, you might drop a seed or two and find yourself with a much more difficult 1st and 2nd round game.

This REALLY makes the ACC look bad. UofL isn't getting into the tournament regardless, and they just took an axe to Miami's resume for sure.
