Let's see how the ACC fares.
Going by the AP poll, the SEC has #1 Georgia, #5 Tennessee, #7 LSU, #10 Alabama, #11 Ole Miss, Kentucky (61 votes), MSU (8 votes), South Carolina (6 votes), Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Missouri, Vanderbilt
Best West OOC wins: Texas (Alabama), Troy (Ole Miss), New Mexico (LSU), Memphis (MSU), Cincinnati (Arkansas), Miami-FL (Texas A&M), San Jose State (Auburn)
Best East OOC wins: Oregon (Georgia), Pittsburgh (Tennessee), Miami-Ohio (Kentucky), Georgia State (South Carolina), Utah (Florida), Louisiana Tech (Missouri), Northern Illinois (Vanderbilt)
vs
ACC
#12 Clemson, #15 North Carolina, #17 North Carolina State, #25 Florida State, Wake Forest (34 votes), Louisville (3 votes), Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Duke, Virginia, Miami-FL, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Boston College
Best wins: ACC Atlantic

Best wins: ACC Coastal
App State (North Carolina), West Virginia (Pittsburgh), Northwestern (Duke), Old Dominion (Virginia), Southern Miss (Miami-FL), Western Carolina (Georgia Tech), Wolford (Virginia Tech)
That would be:
SEC | ACC |
---|
5 ranked teams (3 in the top 10) | 4 ranked teams |
3 teams receiving votes | 2 teams receiving votes |
Best wins: #6 Oregon #13 Utah #18 Texas | Best wins: #7 LSU #19 Liberty #22 UCF |
Best wins contd: Cincinnati (74 votes) Troy (5 votes) | |
I'm sure these data points are closer than many UK fans would expect. No need to denigrate either conference. The SEC is clearly at the top but the ACC isn't that far off this year.
