Losing sucks. I want to shout out Onyenso anyway. 7 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks

2nd half he was MUCH better than the 1st. He just needs to work on using his length to hedge and rebound when he has to rotate. But his team mates didn't help him when he defended the rim. They were HORRIBLE at rotating after UGO left his man to attempt a block.

Might be in the minority here, but I think he played awful for the most part. He was lost in PNR defense all game, and had at least 3 or 4 times rebounding where he would have little awareness that allowed for an easy offensive boards. He played with very high effort, so cant fault him too much, but hopefully he will sharpen those things up once he really gets caught back up with game speed.

Cals PnR defense is horrid. He drop covers and chases everything. 80s style coverage. With the length and athleticism, it’s crazy not to hedge or blitz, especially when the red of the defense is trash.

They fill but don’t sink. Guards just hang on perimeter and don’t help the helper at all.

He
He grew up a lot today. If there has to be a silver lining in a loss, it’s gotta be what we got from ugo. This game will pay dividends down the road
He only played 109 minutes last year.
He played 32 minutes today.
He should’ve been in high school last year.
He came out early.
He will learn from this game.
He will certainly improve.
He is quick off the floor and rim-protects.
He can shoot a little bit, facing the basket from 15’ on in. I’ve seen him do it.
He played very well today against a very physical team.

I am wondering if we could trade Bradshaw ? Can he dunk around the basketball ? Why did Cal have him shooting that 3 when I best 3 point shooter when Sheppard is by far the best 3 point shooter we have ?

Cal needed to change the defense up! That’s on Cal!

Other than a few blocks that stood out, to me he had one of those quiet games that surprises you with what they ended up with. I guess the pitiful team defense and rebounding hurt my overall perception.

He’s definitely awkward. His stats are fine, but his presence doesn’t make teams think twice about driving to the hoop. He has poor lateral quickness and gets pushed around a lot. There were several times today where he let his man pin him so he couldn’t move to distract a layup. Shouldn’t of had to play so many minutes today so I applaud his effort.

Bradshaw had no business in the game at that point. He hadn’t played all day due to foul trouble yet had him in the game down the stretch where every possession counted. Game was way too physical for AB today. He gave up 2 rebounds on the possession that they had like 4 looks and hit the 3 that ended up not counting. Just horrible coaching there by cal regarding personnel.

Unless he was panting or hyper-ventilating, I would not have taken Ugo out.

He had a good game today , helped a bunch since Bradshaw never got off the bus … but guys Ugo is a project.. we can’t win a title with projects .

Well AB was clutch last game out so maybe that’s why he was out there.

I really shouldn’t have to spell this out but he also didn’t sit on the bench for the entirety of the last game as he did this one. You don’t bring players off the bench that are ice cold at the end of the game unless there are absolutely no other options.

I can't believe people are ragging on players who basically missed pre-season practices and conditioning.

Well, I see them doing it, so I believe they are. It's just amazing how brittle people are in their judgments.

I think he’s been growing for a while now. He just needs to use his length on the perimeter and get a little quicker on getting back in position to protect the rim. Also gets a little lost but I think he will keep improving.
Absolutely huge today!
